Replaced Center Console to Burl Wood

Finally had some time today to swap out my center console. I have always hated the piano black since it is so easy to scratch and shows.

I switched to the Burl Wood to match the rest of my trim and I think it turned out great. A HUGE thank you to the members on here that provided instructions. It was an easy process. Always thankful for this website and the knowledgeable members here. Anyway…just wanted to share. Thanks

See if 213-680-60-07 is the right one, the lid/cover should be 213-680-43-07, please confirm first though before ordering.

What year did they make those center consoles with those piano black trim, its not a very good look. I had that type of trims before and they scratch very easily. The high gloss burl wood trims looks much nicer but scratch just as easily, especially in the center console area. The flat black ash wood trim is best for durability.

Here in the UK it was standard for the vast majority of trim levels whatever interior you went for. Randomly some years and combinations would have the wood ash, and the AMG models had the carbon fibre ones, but piano black was pretty much standard. I swapped mine to the black ash one and it looks so much better along with not scratching - had to get it from ebay though as the original part from MB was like £650...

We don't have anywhere near the number of interior colours and options as you do in the States - never seen a wooden steering wheel either! What's it like to use?

Is Mercedes passing the piano black trim as the equivalent of wood trim in England?

Had a half wood steering wheel in my Lexus and hated it, slippery and scratches.

Sorry…been out of town for business so just checking this. I’ll check the box for part numbers tomorrow and post.

Mercedes seems to be real picky about VIN#’s. Basically wouldn’t sell me one using my VIN since I didn’t have the burl wood console in mine….SO….I found the VIN# of a 2019 E that already had the Burl Wood and got Park Place to use that VIN to order this piece for me. There was a console in New Jersey so it came from an inventory there new.

I opened it to make sure it was a close enough match (not too dark…not too light) and it worked perfect. I will say that it was not cheap…about $650 with tax but I wanted it so I didn’t care about the price. I have always hated that cheap looking piano black and that trim piece should have matched whatever trim was in the car with the first 2017 redesign that came off the line but it is what it is.

i am very happy with the new console.

I love a wood steering wheel….they are very nice and they look very classy in my opinion. They are not slippery at all. Like anything else you have to clean them. It will get oily from your hand from time to time but nothing a bit of quick detail wax can’t fix and clean up nicely with a shine.

I have taught myself, as crazy as it sounds, to drive with my left hand and my ring finger just slightly higher than the rest of my fingers so that my wedding ring doesn’t scratch it and now I don’t even realize I do it so it is just second nature at this point. The result….I have a 4 year old car with not a single scratch on the steering wheel.

Each is to their own I guess…

Personally I really like wood grain and or real wood inserts in certain car but not in that colour, it’s a very dated and old look, not really enhancing the prestige of the interior. That’s just an opinion though so it’s nether here nor there as long as YOU like it.

My car has the black wood inserts in a GLC63 S and I like it a lot, more so than the CF. I’m just glad they didn’t have that old clock on the center console, I’d delete the whole interior for something more modern.

Anyway mate, enjoy as you were👍😎

I would say yes it is. I condition and treat the leather seats often and still can’t seem to slow the wear process on the drivers seat. All other seats are pristine but obviously so since I rarely have people in my car.

I try to get in and out as careful as I can as I try to always baby the car as much as possible but I still have the creases on the seat bottom from entering and exiting, although there is no actual wear of the leather on the seat bottom.

However, that left side backseat bolster does actually have the surface of the leather wearing away a bit along the stitching so I try to treat that area extra but to no avail.

This wear actually started a year and a half after owning the car new and I tried to fight it with the dealer and Mercedes also to no avail. They said it was normal wear….Really? 🙄 after a year and a half of owning a new car? I have had 10 year old cars with real leather that never wore like this one has.

I think that the MB Tex would hold up better than this Napa leather does.

seriously thinking about replacing the center console, but also want the stealth hitch with the Thule Easy fold rack to I want to spend it do all 3 items will be about $2200 - not sure I want to spend that on a car, or part of a vacation -

Will confirm MB Tex definitely holds up better, wife drives a 2010 ML350 with MB Tex and seats look new.
Had a 2008 CLK350 cabrio with light beige leather - after 6 years I replaced the driver's seat covers, before I sold the car. Driver's seat in my 17 E400 wagon is beginning to get the same look.

My Sentiments exactly re the Piano Black Console!

Your distain for the mixing of the burled wood and piano black interior elements mirrors my feeling exactly. I’m in the U.S.A. and have a beautifully appointed 2018 E400 Estate with Sport AMG trim. I held out for three years looking for this vehicle in Luna Blue with the burled wood steering wheel and dash. As you had been, I’m now hell-bent on replacing the discordant Piano Black center console (I can’t tell how annoyed I am with this mismatched appointment). I’m a bit late to the party, but thank you for your post, as the part numbers will inform my quest to locate the replacement I’m desperate to find.

The OP's burlwood console looks fantastic. I have the black ash and don't mind the piano black as it seems to integrate better with it but I would agree if I had any other color wood I would prefer the console to match it.
