Android Auto On E 300
Hello,
Just curious if anybody knows a timeline when Mercedes is going to fix the full screen android auto issue. I see a quarter of the screen it just shows a static Android Auto image. The touch controls also dont seem to work only the wheel works. No issues in Apple carplay..Screen full and all the touch controls work just fine.

Hmmm, sorry to hear that. I am not aware of this issue but did you try to update your phone's android version and also the android auto app on your phone?
What phone do you have?

Which also points to this workaround:

I am not sure if it can help you, I am sorry in advance because I have a 2017 C-Class so I don't have smartphone integration to test it out for you.

It does seem like a Google issue:

The thread you shared also has a (edit: different) workaround:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Android/com..._pretty_sweet/
Edit: Sorry about that, nevermind as OP of that thread said it doesn't work for the W213.

This is demonstrated for the C-Class but hmmm... is this update still not out? It has been revealed since 2019: https://www.androidcentral.com/andro...ication-center

You may find success by determining your vehicle's version of Comand. If it is less than 6.80, have the dealer update it and functionality may be increased. This worked for Apple CarPlay for me. After the update, steering wheel buttons, etc., all work for Apple CarPlay

I think the OP wanted Android Auto on a wide screen, and not Carplay. Mine is a 2017. It is COMAND 6.80 Version. My AA is still stuck in small screen. The graphics is ok with 1080p option selected through the advanced menu... I think Google was working on a 'fix' for this issue not only on merc cars, but just as a fix to allow the manufacturer to 'call' or select the resolution... not sure if the current releases fixed it.

Say goodbye to pillar boxes and other weird screen-fit solutions in your car.
This could be good news.

Mdreef, show a photo. I purchased AA Wireless from Indiegogo but my phone's operating system doesn't have the ability to download the app that adjusts the screen size. Next week I'm planning on borrowing my brother's phone to see if I can make an adjustment. But of course if the Android Auto update happens before then I might not need to do anything.

Android Auto via wireless Ottocast 2 in 1 adapter. It moves the map (or whatever you prefer) to the left and audio controls to the right.
The Android Auto logo is no longer there. The only odd thing is that the car displays "car play" on the dash, but it's really supposed to be Android Auto. That's a minor detail that doesn't bother me enough. The wireless feature is a must!

anyone had any luck with the AA update that rolled out recently (starting to roll out)... on the 2017/2018 E300 screens? Is the car now able to 'call' the resolution, and show more relevant content rather than the logo of AA?

I wasn't able to get the AA Wireless to change the screen size on my 2018 but I was able to change the landscape on my brother's F150. I decided to try the OttoCast and it is indeed a game changer. Now that the traffic service no longer works, using Android Auto is a great substitute and it fills up the screen. I put my old AA wireless adapter in my laptop bag and I'll use it in rental cars going forward.

So I have a '21 CLA 35 and a '22 GLB 250 with the 10.25 MBUX screens. I stumbled across this post in a search and was wondering if anyone else had success with changing their MBUX to fullscreen. I use an AAWireless, and would be curious if anyone got fullscreen working on that somehow too.
This is what CarPlay looks like on MBUX. It's a major step backwards from COMAND.

MBUX is not fullscreen in general. Even CarPlay isn't fullscreen in MBUX. It's because MBUX has the home and message center touch buttons on the side and climate control info. It's really a poor design. The screen isn't big enough to have MBUX display touch controls next to CarPlay and AA w/o making CarPlay and AA using a lower aspect ratio.

What really intrigues me is the post above that has the 2 screen MBUX setup with showing AA full widescreen:
I am going to try the ottocast tomorrow even though I have been using AA Wireless, but I will gladly switch if it applied full screen somehow.

That's not MBUX, that's COMAND NTG 5.5. That poster's E Class is a 2020, which uses COMAND. It's the same COMAND I have in my '19 C63S coupe and my CarPlay is fullscreen by default. The FL E Class has MBUX (>2021).
