Cracked COMAND Touchpad
My car is coming up to 4 years old and for the last couple of years a small line has grown to a large crack in my touchpad. My dealer wouldn’t help and it still works but does anyone here know the cause? I have never “bashed it” or dropped anything into it.

cracked pad swapped
This touchpad plastic must be under tension to develop a crack.

They were sourced from AliExpress (where else). Think they were about €35 for four delivered to Germany.

That's very interesting as my (broken) touchpad was made in the first few days of Sep 18 as the car was made last week of Sep 18. Noting the doc you posted was aimed at the US market (I think) do you know if there is one aimed at the EU market (ideally a German dealer) that i can walk into and state my case again (its only 10 mins to rebuild the "old" unit back into the car)?
