What to check before warranty ends

Hi all,

The warranty on my 2019 E450 wagon ends in a few months. The car has 15,000 miles and I have only had it in for routine maintenance, i.e. no problems so far (except for wire damage from mice). However, I do get an occasional “popping sound” when the pano sunroof is open and have recently noticed a smear on the display from the front camera. I thought it was a dirty windshield, but careful cleaning did not help. Is this a known issue? Anything else I should be looking at?

Thanks!

Same boat as you: the Warranty on my 2019 E450 ends on December 30, 2022. So far no issues and I bought the PPM so the 10K and 20K were done by the dealer.

I am now due for the 30,000 mile maintenance which is basically an oil and filter change. I have decided to take it to a local highly recommended indy shop, While up on the lift dong the oil change I will ask the shop to check underneath for any visible problems especially the front and rear suspension. Other than that, I cannot think of anything else: Keep in mind that up to now I have had zero problems other than replacement of the switch for the intelligent lighting.

If I had had problems, I probably would not have bought my car at lease end and if there were a few minor problems and I still decided to buy it, I would have bought the extended warranty. Because of the cost, $2200 + tax, I have decided not to buy the extended warranty. Presently I plan to keep the car for another 3 years at which time it will be 7 years old and about 50,000 miles.

Thanks.

Given the choice between a third party warranty and an extended warranty from Mercedes at the same price, I would choose the MB extended warranty. I think everyone else would do the same.

However the 36 month, 75,000 mile extended warranty from Mercedes Benz is $1,000 less not more than the above third party warranty: $2,200 + tax, $100 deductible per visit. I have received the $2,200 quote from two different MB dealers.

Have them address the sliding roof noise.
Engine for oil leaks at cam sensors and cam position sensors.
Drivetrain for leaks: front axle, transfer case, transmission, rear axle.
Coolant system for leaks or loss of coolant.
Axle shaft boots for cuts
Suspension joint boots for cuts/tears (upper ball joints, lower ball joints, stabilizer bar links)
Confirm everything electrical works as it should: windows, seats, steering column, HVAC, COMAND/MBUX etc etc

@JTK44 Mercedes does not offer extended warranty coverage beyond 3 years, so for some, the ELW does not offer the terms they are looking for. Plus, there are plenty of threads where claims acceptance of the ELW varies from MB dealer and MB dealer... strange.

If you say so - I do not know as I was only interested in 36 months and 50,000 miles and the least amount of mileage was 75,000.

In any event the MB extended warranty is still a $1,000 less and I cannot imagine anyone taking a third party warranty over an MB warranty at the same price, never mind a higher price.

I think everyone pricing a third party warranty would expect to pay substantially less than the MB extended warranty.

Congratulations, it looks like the MB warranty best fits your needs. If there is anyone looking for coverage beyond 3 years, information for them is above.
