What is this part dealer left in trunk?

Looked up the part # and it is the rear floor pan splash cover. Payed $$$ for service so this is a bit annoying.

My local dealer usually would keep some expensive or rare parts that are replaced and show them to me when I pick up the car, as an evidence that they have actually replaced the old worn or faulty part(s).
Anyway, the floor pan splash cover does not appear to be an expendable part that needs replacement over time. Maybe you examine it and see if it is damaged, making a replacement necessary?
If it is still in good condition (even though it is dirty...but it is expected due to its location), I wonder why it is not reused. Maybe you can also take a quick look underneath to see if a new one is installed?

Sorry to hear that, at least they left the part in the trunk and not misplaced it otherwise sadly you will never even know that they didn't install it back before returning the vehicle...

That's nice that they made the effort to make it right and minimize the inconvenience to you. I've had similar issues (not Mercedes) where the "expert" didn't bother to use up all the parts when reassembling my vehicle. That's part of what motivated me to do maintenance myself, when I can. Even if I lack experience, I at least give a crap enough to try.
