E53 AMG ECU Upgrade expierence

I have a new to me 2021 AMG E53 Cab that I am thinking of doing an ECU upgrade to. It has 4k miles on it. I has most options, including AMG exhaust and track pace. I have searched many forums but have not found real experience that I might learn from.
Have you or anyone you know Upgraded the ECU on there E53, and if so what has their experience been? Especially want to know about

- Passing inspections
- Service by a dealer after an upgrade.
- reliable vendors

Thanks for any help
Dave

The only one I think who makes a tune for the E53 Amg is Eurocharged and looks like a gain of only 61 HP and 74 lb ft of torque. I dunno if it's even worth it spending nearly 2K for that small amount of gain. I don't think Renntech ever came out with a tune for the E53's.

^^^THIS^^^

I am going to tune my 450 (Eurocharged) but only after it goes off MB/CPO warranty in 18-months. Just don’t want to deal with MB dealership using a tune as excuse to deny a warranty repair… you know how they’d look for anything to charge you $$$…

Thanks for the advice. I thought that there is a US law that says a car Manufacturer cannot void a warranty biased o customer modifications.. Yes they can create problems by saing the mod was the problem but I am under the impression if that is proven wrong the warranty still holds.

Thoughts?

You may be referring to this: https://www.ftc.gov/legal-library/br...provements-act
That said, if you have an engine failure and they detect the tune, they'll likely win the argument and your repair will be denied. If your head unit fails, well that wouldn't apply, tune or not. I wouldn't apply a tune until the warranty is done.

thoughts = good luck getting your dealer or any dealer to cover your car once your car is flagged status 8 (or status as modified/tuned).

I have yet to read in 20 years online on these car forums where a member proved the mag/moss law to the dealer and the dealer covered therefore the blown engine or engine issue or drivetrain issue. Some dealers are tune friendly but this is few and far between in 2023+. Send me any links to the contrary I'm willing to read and reconsider my position.

wish you all the luck when you tune and that 48v system has issues and you need dealer warranty work on that tuned 53. Also if you don't mind paying for repairs that are not covered once you're tuned, then by all means enjoy the tune and your car.

I got a Weistec tune on my 43. Supposedly 396-438 so pretty mild but also supposedly really safe, Def could tell a difference initially after the tune around 3000rpm +. Seems to get angrier quicker. But not a huge difference by any means - it mostly just sounded better. But I’m also used to the tune now so…

I think you're twisting the meaning of that act. Basically refers to aftermarket parts not factory stuff. But a tune isn't exactly an aftermarket part like an oil filter or brake pads/rotors. As others said, good luck fighting MB when you blow the engine and a new one is like 25k and they deny your warranty claim. They do that all the time and we never hear of anyone winning their lawsuit against MB for denying their claim. But as others say, by all means try your luck if you're feeling lucky. Those tunes don't 100% blow up your engine, but the risk is there. If you feel like risking it, go ahead, just don't count on the warranty bailing you out.
