New tires...gonna go with 245/45/19

My tire store said anything under aspect ratio of 50 is considered "low profile".
Like most in the North East, potholes are a fact of life and why I went with the stock 18" wheel vs. the 19" or 20".
If there was a 50 aspect ratio, I would have in heart beat gone with it: give up minimal handling for smoother ride and more pothole protection!
Because of Covid it cost $400 plus a tire, including balancing for each replacement tire. (I also did the remaining tire as I wanted all new rubber. I have kept the fourth tire in my garage as a replacement/spare when and if needed)

Are the oem 18” tires already 45 ratio?

What the OP is asking is if anyone have upsize their aspect ratio and if there is any ill affect beside the lower speedo and odometer. On a 18" rim, you could upsize to a 50 ratio tire and get more side wall. I think the jump from 45 to 50 will make a much bigger difference than the jump from 40 to 45 comfort and protection wise. If it is doable, it might be worth considering for me to upsize when its time to replace all 4 tires.
The debate between 18" and 19: have been talked about to death, it is really the individual's preference, the truth is, there is really minimal difference between the two. If you step up to 20" or down to 17", that is a different story.

Ditto with going between 18" wheel and 19" vs. 19" and 20": the percentage difference between 18" to 19" is greater than 19" to 20".
BTW, in the old days we use to call upsizing stage 1, stage 2 and stage 3.
