Folks, I recently replaced my stock wheels/tires with new (to me) wider wheels/tires from a prior year S-class.
The standard wheels were 19x8” (pretty narrow) with 245/45/19 tires, in a square setup.
The new ones (from the prior year S-class) with absolutely perfect offset and wider wheel/tire widths, had the following specs:
19x8.5 wheels in the front with 245/45/19 tires (wheels are wider but the tires are the standard size)
19x9.5 wheels in the rear with 275/40/19 tires (wheels are much wider and significantly wider tires in the rear)
The tires are Michelin Pilot Sport A/S 4s. In all of my cars, I switch to the Michelin Pilot Sport A/Ss as soon as the break-in period is done at 1000 miles, and have been doing this since the early 2000s when the first version of the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S debuted.
As you can see, the new wheels are significantly wider and have wider tires in the rear, and feel a LOT more planted than the stock wheels/tires. In fact, the tire/wheel widths are identical to the optional 20” staggered wheels that the 2021/2022/2023 E450 All-Terrains come with, from the factory. Don’t know why they went to narrow wheels/tires in their standard 19” wheel/tire options.
I decided to stick to the 19s, instead of going to 20s, since I wanted to maintain the additional sidewall, while adding width to the wheels/tires.
Here are some pictures, with the wider wheels/tires:
Roweraay caught a gem of a 19-inch alloy wheel alternative for the All-Terrain wagon. .. A 5-month OEM wheel search for our own All-Terrain has come to a close. .The S-Klasse 19" alloy is the one. .. eBay came through with a 4-wheel set including used Michelin's.. The used S alloys are a little worse for wear, yet with intense elbow polish they'll clean up. . Paid $1,575. USD all toll. . (That's with 4-TPMS and center caps.)
I'll be sure to shoot "like-kind" photos of our Selenite Grey finished wagon ... Frau Schneider, say's "See... the wagon looks best in white". .. In Germany currently, white is the prestige Kombi color to have. .. Comsi, Comsa.

That’s a fantastic price for the wheels, especially with the TPMS and the center caps ! Prior to doing the swap, I expected the E-class and the S-class to have different hub-bores etc. But they are exactly the same ! Which means, as long as the offsets etc are optimal, an S-class rim is a direct bolt-on on the E-class.

I've never been one for "mods" but these wheels look so right opposed to the all black AMG's made worse by the black cladding. Certainly gives the AT more of a "wagon" appearance.
My Selenite Grey wagon and I look forward more photos! We may be next in line!

Happy motoring!
I am certainly not a fan of the recent trend towards black wheels. Looks positively ugly to me, and hopefully, like all fads, the automakers will move back into standard colored wheels. These wheels would look fantastic on a Selenite Grey wagon, and Selenite Grey is an absolute favorite color of mine.
Roweraay - your setup looks great. Do you happen to know the offset of the front and rear S-class wheels you added as I want to do the same thing in either 19" or 20" on our new wagon...

The 19x8.5 has a 36mm offset and the 19x9.5 has a 43.5mm offset……I responded back in that other thread too.

Following.
Would get an additional dedicated 19" square setup for Trail/Two Track Duty in NM/TX and use All Terrain Tires like the Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail. No longer need 4X4 Pickups or Jeeps with ground clearance for the places I visit in Retirement.
I know this is an old thread, but they look great. I have the optional 20” staggered wheels and they are quite harsh in the NE, and the run flats don't help.
