Having paid for FULL M-B Connect, I wanted to update my maps (three US regions). I own a 2020 E450 purchased in February 2020. Using a Mac running macOS Sonoma 14.0. Following the directions, I attempted to install the Installer. My Mac would not allow the download (see below).
Am I the only one experiencing this? Any work arounds? I did sent this onto Mercedes USA and not surprisingly did not get a response. I do not think this is an Apple problem.
What can kind version of MacOs do you have? There should be a way to approve the app. I have this version of the Mercedes ME Download Manager running on my Mac and was able to periodically update my maps on my 2022 E450.
Thanks for the reply. The latest, greatest - Sonoma 14.0. I am vaguely familiar with my Mac thinking there are filters and other stuff defining the operating system. This is a classical "systems integration" problem - it is someone else's fault.
A Mac is not the best tool to update the maps. Several people have had issues. Next challenge you'll face is partitioning/formatting the media so it can be read by MBUX/COMAND. It needs to be partitioned using MBR and formatted with a Windows file system such as NTFS, FAT or exFAT. The latter are supported by Mac, but not really native. This process works pretty much flawlessly on Windows, but with a Mac you gonna be jumping through hoops. Below is a link from Apple support for how to work around that security block.
Thank you for the detailed response. Back in the day, every thing was Windows. Now my household is either Mac or Chromebook. Think I need to find someone with a Windows machine.
Go to your Mac's settings, search security settings somewhere, there should be a button to click that'll allow you to run the software. After it's installed, you might need to go back to security settings to allow the program to launch.
Success! I want to thank SUPERSWISS for his suggestions of 10/23. Here is what I did to get the map downloads (2023 V25.0) to work into my 2020 E450.
First, a Windows machine MUST be used. The Download Manager application specifically calls out for a NTFS formatted thumb drive. Apple does not do NTFS. I found I needed about 22.5 GB of storage. Have it formatted before you start the process.
Using a Windows machine, I was able to select the USA regions (USA Central, Great Lakes, Eastern, Southern, and Western) and then watch the download/upload (to thumb drive) for "awhile". Did not note the start time but it took about 30 minutes. The Download Manager has a very descriptive screen that shows the progress.
Once in the vehicle, the updates took about 22 minutes.

Glad you got it sorted. It's supposed to work with exFAT as well, but I've never tried. I always used NTFS. Even with exFAT, the problem is Macs write additional files to the thumb drive with exFAT, because exFAT does not support multiple data streams per file, so MacOS writes the additional data to separate files with the same file extensions and that confuses MBUX/COMAND. You have to use a utility to clean those up first. NTFS does support multiple data streams, but MacOS can only read NTFS and not write to it. Macs just become problematic as soon as you need to do things outside of the Apple ecosystem.

Perhaps confusing but hopefully Mercedes does not solve it for the US market as it did for (some of) the European countries: discontinued the whole off-line update option! Now we have to wait as new updates are not released for all cars simultaneously (to reduce load) and seems not at all for some that have pending/failed old style updates...
Curious what year and model you have, would have thought Mercedes Me would support online updates. My '20 E53 just did one. I can't say for sure if it pulled the data from the Mercedes data feed or my home wifi

Are you asking me? Mine is a V223 MY22. We do have OTA updates, is that what you are referring as online updates? The option to update via a USB stick was discontinued.
