AMG E43
Mercedes E-class AMG based on w214 platform

I'm looking for information on when we might expect to see an AMG E53 or E63 based on the new w214 platform in the US. I currently own a 2018 AMG E43. I love the car but have been tempted to upgrade to a 2023 E53 or E63s. However, I think it would be better to hang with my present car until an AMG adaptation on the new w214 platform becomes available. Since I don't think we'll be seeing any E w214 models in the US prior to 2024, I can only imagine that an AMG variant on the new platform won't be available for many months after that. What does the community know about this? Should I stick with my 2018 E43 until the new model becomes available, or should I purchase a 2023 AMG E53 in the interim until the dust settles on a w214 platform AMG model. Thanks.

I'm thinking you won't see the new E 53 for a year or so. E 63 is probably further away. Also it won't be a V8.

Not bad, hybrid with lots of power, decent battery-only range. Now if only they'd get rid of those tail lights.

2021 AMG E63s Wagon
These Hybrid AMG W214s are too heavy. Great for point A to B transportation. I would just settle for the less complicated E450 All Terrain Wagon in the States if I got rid of my 2021 AMG E63s Wagon. Glad that I kept my 2015 Chevy SS 6-speed manual that I just added a louder SOLO Axelback Exhaust to so can hear my LS3 V8. Previously upgraded the suspension with stiffer BMR components. Will upgrade to a custom LS7 motor down the road for $20K if desire more performance out of my 4000lbs lithe Super Sport Sedan with Summer Michelin Pilot performance tires dedicated for the Southwest when temps are above 60F. Keep DWS 06+ tires currently on AMG E63s Wagon that I use to travel between NM and GA Residences throughout the year. Its stiff AMG suspension is only fun up to Reston Virginia...if I travel on I-95 corridor beyond DC to NYC will park the E63s and take the Train to avoid the bumpy Toll roads or take Daughter's Buick that I gifted her to manage the most direct routes to NYC and Boston in a pinch if can't secure a discount on the Train or Chinese Bus.

Ya agree, I still need to see one in person which should happen soon but I really doubt I will like the taillights, otherwise the side profile of this gen E is the best angle (imo). I sadly doubt MB will change it during their facelift, I hope so though. Don't forget they even put it in front as the headlights on the concept 2024 CLA.

For the W214 facelift, maybe at least make the shape blend better with the rear of the vehicle or make the star taillight less intrusive looking (again just my opinion).

Mercedes change the tail light design in the w213 facelift, maybe they will change the tail light design in the W214 as well.

I am cool with the tail light. To me it isn’t the most off putting design feature, sure it could be better, but design is in the eye of the beholder. Wanna see garish feature? Just check out anyone of the new BMWs… yuk!

I love the W214 E53 AMG and will plan to buy one in a few years from now. It has plenty of really awesome features that makes me overlook trivial ones like the tail light. That car will be a beast.. with up to 612Hp and 800Nm of torque. I can only imagine what the W214 E63 AMG will be… I guess in the ballpark to what the W223 S63 AMG is… about 800Hp and 1000 Nm of torque or thereabouts. But will it be a V8??? I think YES… MB has no choice than to bring back the V8 in all 63 variants… that ghastly 4-cylinder experiment is an abject failure and needs to go away. Besides, the 53 is already an inline 6, so the 63 needs to up the ante and go 8-cylinders.

There needs to be some conversion factor for weight and horsepower. Like for every 100lb of battery, you lose 50hp. So like 600hp minus that 300lb battery (I don't know the actual weight) it feels like 450hp, which is fine for a 53 series car.

I'm shopping between a GLE53 and GLE63s, but the GLE53 with the plain I6 is just so anemic for the money. This new plug-in hybrid 53 powertrain makes things more interesting.

The W223 S63 AMG weighs a ton... literally... yet does 0-60 in 3s flat.... these cars are meant for roads not tracks hence need to add some beef so they can handle the challenges of regular road and traffic and passenger safety. I am not worried about the weights, more important to me is performance. And these AMGs have it in spades... I am patiently waiting for the 2025 E53 AMG, it will be in my driveway/garage someday.

Finished watching both videos, I am underwhelmed by the sound, hopefully it sounds better in person and/or sounds better when it reaches North America.

Much like almost the entire automotive industry at this point....uninspiring. Heavy. Complicated.

non German at least the Maseratis and even Alfa Romeos still sounds pretty good, but they are not restricted by German laws/EU sound regulations so that might be why.

That said, as I already expected this, the sound is not necessary a deal breaker for me especially if the tone is better in person when it arrives to Canada/North America.
