Why don't I like my wheels? Your opinion wanted.

So I come from a long list of BMWs and this is my second Mercedes. I had an e92 335i coupe at one point and had this same style of wheel. Loved the look on the 335i and thought that style of wheel would look good on the w213 but I kinda hate it. Can't really figure out why accept maybe the offset and fitment of the wheel isn't exactly right. 20x9.5 et 35 with 245 tire square setup. Had to also use 5mm spacers to clear the brakes. I think I might just need to buy new wheels but what's your opinion?

I do not like the way the spokes stick out from the rim of the wheel and tire.

Do you mean the concave properties of the wheels? One of the reasons I got this type of wheel again was because it was a concave type of wheel. Being that it looked good on the BMW I thought it would look good on the Mercedes but I agree that it doesn't fit the Mercedes.

If the spokes were attached more to the center of the rim the wheels would look better. Perhaps it is just the camera angle, but the spokes appear to curve out beyond the outermost edge of the rim - not flush with the rime edge.

To me the wheels look a little busy on your car, maybe try a simpler design.

Looks like the BMW has a lowered suspension, which would account for some of the variance; I do like the wheels on the w213, but it may also be that the tires on the MB could be a bit wider? Are those aftermarket wheels?

Sorry just saw this bit: "20x9.5 et 35 with 245 tire square setup". Are the tires 245/35? .

I personally think the stock multi-spome rims work great on a number of Mercedes. They are elegant but still a bit sporty.

Yes the BMW was lowered. These wheels are aftermarket and I was thinking of trying a 265 tire on this setup but wasn't sure it would fit. 245 tires makes the tires look stretched. Wish I would've went with the 265.

I agree with you but when I bought this w213 I also had a w220 with this wheel so I didn't want to go with the same wheel. I sold it recently so I may think about this wheel again.

I got aftermarket wheels 300 bucks each and like them much better than the OEM wheels "Mandrus 23's" made for MB cars.

Are you comparing the look of the bmw to the mercedes when the bmw is clearly lowered?

Your wheels looks good, whats wrong is they don’t look good on the car. Lower the car and make the camber a little on the minus side on the rear.

it will hurt comfort, but I am sure comfort was not the focus on the bmw:-)

my summer setups is 245/35-35 and 275/30-75

I didn't read other comments but I like the beefy look they have. Looks really good IMO. If you're not loving it get some different wheels but keep those for a rainy day

Yep, I 2nd that, my very favorite. I however had 17” originally on my MY2017 Luxury model, I wanted to keep 17” for a more comfortable ride and less chance of damaging the rims. I ended up ordering custom forged replica's in 17”.

They don't look too bad. Brabus and Mercedes (they may be AMG) both sell wheels very similar to those, the Mercedes usually in black. Having said that, now that you don't have the W220, the OE multi-spoke would look really nice. I have the multi-spoke on my SL, but was concerned about ride quality of 20in wheels on my W213. How is the ride quality on your current setup?

Yes I do like the look of the multi spoke, I think I'll try some 265 tires first to see how it looks with the new tire setup and if I still don't like it I'll get some new wheels.

The 20s with regular tires ride about 25% better than my stock 18s with run flats. Less noise, and more comfortable.

Are you lowered? I thought about lowering springs but can't find a definite answer on fitment for the 4 matic. Also if I did lower it I think I'd only do the rear because the front bumper scapes on my driveway already as is.

I upsized to 20 inch OE rims and "regular" tires (Conti All-Season). They seem quieter and no less comfortable. Let's put it this way: If the car came with 20inch rims and non run-flat tires, I wouldn't be thinking of downsizing for a better ride. And they look so much better IMO.

What is your 20" tire size? They look like rubber bands. I like to see a generous amount of sidewall in say a 245/45-20.or 245/50-20.
Larger aspect ratio tires are also better for roads that aren't smooth as glass. That's why they are used on police vehicles.

Yes I'd like to know what tire size your running also. Those wheels looks really classy on your car!

I have a similar 20" setup with standard (regular) tires and it rides great. When I bought the car it had run-flats and the ride was not good, very harsh.

F: 20x8 245/35
R: 20x9 275/30

I went with 8x20 ET43 for both front and rear so that I could rotate the tires. Normal with 20's is 8x20 ET43 front and 9x20 ET49 rear (with the tire sizes shown above). I chose Continental Extreme Contact DWS06 Plus, 245/35R20. Always had good experience with Continental on other Mercedes I've owned, and very happy with these.

Cool. Yeah, I had a square setup on my last MB and it does has some advantages, like you say, the ability to 4 wheel rotate, the symmetry and square is generally better in heavy rain.

Conti DWS's are a good tire, I'm on Team Michelin myself.
