W213 HUD contents memory problem

Hi all,

I have a strange problem which somebody might help me to solve.
So my HUD keeps forgetting what it was set to during the previous drive. But it keeps forgetting only the contents. My specific settings for the HUD position and brightness remain correct, only the contents get reset nearly every time I start the car.
At first I thought it's a battery issue so I have replaced it with a brand new one - the issue still occurs.
Then I thought it's derivers profile or seat memory related. I tried switching the profiles, using different seat memory - no luck as well. In fact none of those memory settings impact the HUD.
Anyone has any other suggestions?

Hello. Unfortunally. I had a system update yesterday, but the problem is still there.

Did you try resetting all settings or check if it is Mercedes Me causing issues? Ask Mercedes Me support as well.

so the HUD is just a display. It does not do anything except display what it is sent to it.

The settings, what to display come from the Instrument cluster module (not to be confused with the instrument cluster itself).

I have heard it called
IC177
IC213
more than likely it is different models for the new version.

Delete all profiles and start from scratch.

Tried all deletions and other “soft” solutions. No luck. Still have not solved it. Most probable cause is some problems related with volatile/non-volatile memmory. The issue might have started when I did mu ad-blue deletion even though it was done at a professional programmer. Still looking for the solution.

Could probably consider one of the forum sponsors custom coders.

Not sure if this is on point, but I have found when I start the car from the app, it changes the HUD display. If I start the car normally without using the app, it remembers the memory setting.

So by settings, you mean the selection of RPM, gear. RPM, Gear, Speed limit, etc?

are you on your profile or the guest profile in the infotainment screen? Does it change when you use the other FOB?

No, the HUD does not display that. The HUD has settings for brightness, HUD display position on the windshield and displayed contents (3 different menus). The brightness and position work fine - tried multiple times. All settings are stored disregarding which profile I’m using, which key fob or anything else. Now with the contents - there are choices - speed (default), speed + traffic signs, speed + signs + GPS and so on. This part does not save. It gets back to default. And I like the full HUD so the furthest setting. It gets frustrating to change the settings each time I get in the car. Not the end of the world but not pleasant.
Some time ago it did return to default only when the car was not used overnight. Now it happens even after short stops of say 1 hour.
I already replaced my battery - no changes (proper quality battery). There’s no difference which fob I’m using, which profile or even whether I reset the profiles as a whole.
I’m out of “simple” ideas and left with a visit to a programmer probably unless someone here has some other thoughts I could try.
