Car locked with keys in it
This morning, leaving for work I go to get my badge out of the car. I am driving the truck today and my wife will be driving the car. Anyhow, get the badge and leave the key in the cup holder with the cover closed and doors unlock. I opened the passenger door to get the badge. Head to work and wife never needed the car. This evening I go to get the key and the doors are locked. How is this possible? I know there are some features that if you unlock the key but do not open a door, it will unlock but this was not the case. I did not open the rear hatch so there is no possible way I could have hit the lock button on it. Any ideas on this? Other than calling a lock smith or prying a door open and using a coat hanger, what are my options?
If I call the local dealer and order another key, is that an option?
TIA

Having said that, without a second key, nobody near the car could have locked it from the outside. So then the next question is did you transfer the Mercedes me services to you from the previous owner? The car can be locked and unlocked remotely from the Mercedes app. If you haven't transferred the service to you then the previous owner still has control over your car and can lock it from their phone. Perhaps inadvertently or as a prank, they locked your car remotely. This is also the answer to your question. If you ever find your key locked inside the car, you unlock the car from the Mercedes app on your phone, but as said that requires to have the services transferred to you first and you should do that ASAP if you haven't done it already. You will need to go to the dealership and show proof of ownership and then they can remove the previous owner and transfer the service to your Mercedes me account.
If you didn't transfer the services to you and currently can't unlock it from your phone, then unfortunately locksmith it is. The dealership would also have to force their way into the car first to program an additional key. Can't just order one and use it to unlock a car. It's gonna have to be programmed first. The dealership should also remove the second key that is missing, in case someone actually has it in their possession. For all you know, the previous owner still has the second key. Not saying they are stalking you, but I sure would not want a stranger to be able to lock and control my car from their phone, because they previously owned this car. Even worse, they can actually see the location of the car in the app and track you.

I had asked if the dealer could just get me a blade that I can use to get into the car. The answer is yes. I called them yesterday and ordered one. Should be here Tuesday/Wednesday.

Dealer did call me, and the blade is ready for pickup. I also subscribed to the Me app so I have some options if this happens again.
