I have a 2019 E300 sedan and haven’t had a map update since 2021 but Mercedes always insists that their updates will self-install, not so. So, here’s the best way to get one without worrying if it will work or not. I have a Mac OS on a laptop and you’ll need a new USB drive and a cable that will allow you to plug in the usb drive into your laptop. You CANNOT update the usb drive unless you’re in the car as I first tried to download the update in my house but you have to be in the car. So, it works best and fastest if you plug your laptop in a 110 volt plug or use your 12 volt dc in the car with a converter. Make sure your usb drive is plugged into your laptop not the car’s USB port. Go to your Mercedes.me account and log in. Scroll down to map updates on the appropriate page. From there choose your home region to update and follow the directions to download the Mercedes program installer.
once it’s downloaded just follow the directions to download the update, as stated you really need to use a new usb drive because for some reasons the older usb drives don’t work or drives with different file types don’t work either. In any event start to download the update, it will take about 15-20 minutes to download but it’s worth it. Once the system is downloaded to the usb drive on the laptop and it tells you the process is finished shutdown your laptop and remove the usb drive. At this point you must plug the usb drive into the port in the front of the center console where you would normally plug it into if you have WiFi in your car. Then select the car system from the choices that are available ie; media, radio, navigation, etc. and then choose updates at the very bottom of the choices in that menu. After about 15 to 20 minutes your map will update. I can’t honestly say I see any difference in the way the system operates or speed improvement but I assume the update mainly applies to the street accuracy and things of that nature. Frankly the Mercedes map for the W213 series isn’t all that great to begin with but I just wanted to have the most current version.

There is no need to physically be in the car while you download the update to a USB. You also do not need to turn off your laptop to remove the USB drive. You should be able to unmount it. You should also be able to use a Windows laptop.

 

My car have updated it's map 2x however it's because I have Mercedes Me.

 

I have a 2019 E300 with Comand and I have Mercedes Me. Anytime my car does a map update it takes about a week. Right now it’s stuck on 98% since Sunday. I’ve tried to do the update with a stick but my computer (Apple MacBook Pro) won’t work with the download manager. I have an appointment to get the car serviced in a couple of weeks at the dealer and if it STILL is stuck on 98% I’ll ask if they can do the download. I hope it can update because the speed limits are 75% wrong.

BTW it’s ALWAYS this slow, not a new development.

 

While you are at it, update COMAND as well. It might make the map updates quicker.

When I try to copy and paste that site, I get "Unfortunately your vehicle does not support any digital extras. Your access to certain features will therefore remain limited."

I tried https://www.me.mercedes-benz.com, and put in my VIN and log in, I get a message stating "Vehicle's software is up to date. Last sync 29.05.2025"

I don't get an option to update maps.

It may be that map update is only available for free for 2019 and newer models.

 

Does your vehicle have mbrace and not mercedes me connect? If so, yes the maps are only through updating via dealership or probably buying a sd card.

 

If you bought a official Garmin (?) navigation sd card used for MB you can insert it and activate it using an activation code, a forum member here can provide the activation code.

I had the MercedesMe app on my phone and I could use all its features for free for 5 years. After that, they wanted to charge me. I tried to download the MercedesMe app on my phone today but it doesn't exist anymore -- they only have MBrace available for download.

 

I see what happened, before Mercedes Me app probably controls mbrace as well. If you can download and use mbrace that means your vehicle does have mbrace and not the "actual" Mercedes me connect, they keep changing their names, now the app is simply called Mercedes-Benz.

Map update can be carried by purchasing a map PIN code and a map data in usb. So if your car can not do online update or feel the update is too long. Feel free to contact us to get yours updated.

There is no Mercedes ME any longer to download. You just need to download Mercedes-Benz (USA/CA) and it's the same app.

The app on my phone does not say Mercedes Me but what I wrote above.

 

Garmin systems with SD card doesn't need activation code, as the Card can only be used on the car from where it was initialised. Used Garmin Cards are useless.

 

Oh. Did I mixed it up with COMAND and Audio20?

 

Comand can copy/install high level Maps into it's own HDD with a license, Audio20 with Navigation Capability can read low level Maps from a SD card.

My MB App has an ongoing message indicating updates are ready to be installed and I should follow up with the car the next time I am in the car. However, each time I try it in the car, I get a message indicating no updates are available. Not sure of there is a glitch there or not.
