Squeaking and Squealing
Please help identify this sound! 2023 E 450. Six Cylinder, 15,000 miles. When start up, especially first start of the day, get this squealing sound that lasts for a second or two. Does not re-occur until the next start, when it is softer, sometimes absent. Recording attached! Starts at 7 second mark. No animals were sacrificed in the making of this recording. Thanks in advance.

near the end of the video? could it be the exhaust valves?

Thanks for your reply. Sound is last two seconds of the audio. Only lasts a second or two. I don't think I have exhaust valves? No serpentine belt either.

I would just bring it in to the dealer, they'll fix under warranty.

Yes, well that was my first thought. Dealer number one, who has always been great with me, said they could not hear it! It is louder now. Before I go back or try another dealer, i thought I would get some ideas going in case they need some direction. Thanks.

That is indeed a very strange sound, I am sorry that I might not be able to help. If your dealership is helpful, tell them to use chassis ears to listen for it.

Looks like i do have exhaust valves and spraying with high temperature silicon lubricant quietes the sound, at least temporarily. Probably needs replacement.
