MBRACE Serves Ending December 31st 2025

Dear mbrace Customer,

This email is to inform you about the upcoming sunset of mbrace connected car services. We believe that you currently have one or more mbrace services. This email provides notice that all of these services are scheduled to end on December 31, 2025.

This includes all features of the mbrace services, including Automatic Collision Notification, Stolen Vehicle Location Assistance and SOS/Emergency Call. Again, these services will no longer be active as of January 1, 2026.

There is no action required on your part unless you have any questions or wish to cancel services prior to the remaining period of 2025. You can continue to use your connected car services through December 31, 2025.

What this means for you:
  • Services ending December 31, 2025: All mbrace connected car services will no longer be active after this date. Services are being terminated effective January 1, 2026.
  • Prorated refunds for services paid beyond December 31, 2025: If you have paid for services that extend beyond December 31, 2025, we will work to automatically provide you with a prorated refund for the unused portion of your service after the shutdown date. If you do not receive your prorated refund by January 15, 2026, please contact customer service at (866) 990-9007.
  • Automatic prorated renewals until December 31, 2025: If any of the mbrace services to which you subscribe are scheduled to renew between now and December 31, 2025, they will automatically renew at a prorated rate (based on your current plan) for only the period until December 31, 2025. No action is required from you for this prorated renewal, as long as you have a valid payment method on file.
  • Option to decline automatic renewal: If you do not wish to be automatically renewed for the remaining period of 2025, please contact customer service at (866) 990-9007.
mbrace services are provided by Verizon Connect Inc. on behalf of Mercedes-Benz and are subject to the mbrace Terms of Service. You can find a copy of the current mbrace Terms of service online HERE. If you have any questions, please contact customer service for more information.

We appreciate your understanding and continued loyalty.

Here MB goes again, we the customers will just have to do without. They have provided no resolution, just stop offering the services. To heck with their customers, let the go purchase/lease new vehicles if the would like these features

Wow! No more emergency services via the SOS button. I'll have to get a cell phone for the car.

Yep, this is just unacceptable, in my opinion.

Unfortunately, that too will be gone, if your car has MBRACE , then all services will no longer work after the end of the year. I’m not sure how MB thinks this is acceptable, especially SOS. Remote start is great and I love using it when necessary, however SOS is the one that I just can’t get over that they don’t see anything wrong with that.

I am sure they would love to continue taking your money, but if the cell signal service itself is just being turned off by Verizon, there probably isn't much they can do besides this.

Wasn't mbrace shut down 3 years ago when 3G cellular networks were no longer supported? The current MBrace is through Verizon Connect and I'm guessing they are tired of spending money on keeping the system active. The writing has been on the wall since 2022.

This is the problem with subscription based service on items that people like to keep for many years. I am not a fan of subscription based service myself and would rather pay a one time fee to enable the features I want as long as they are permanently available on the car.

Could be that 4G is finally going off now, seems like it will always be an issue at some point once the cell technology becomes obsolete. One would think they’d make it upgradable or services available via external cell service, even with a paid subscription service as well

L1Wolf, I agree. I don't like monthly fees just to operate my vehicle. Aren't gas and insurance enough of a monthly fee?

Mercedes-Benz mbrace® - Sunset FAQ

I'm just now able to digest what this mbrace EOL means. It was probably the one thing I enjoyed about the subscription was Send2Benz, but dang, all of these features are gone.

...it's more though. Honestly, these can be done via newer cell phones. Apple AirTags work well (locator, stolen vehicle); Android doesn't have a good similar system IMO; Apple/Google Car Crash detection; I never used the remote start (Florida, garaged), maybe an aftermarket item? The others seem to be contact-related.

I'll remember this from manufacturers for now on. I guess 8 years is the "oh it's too much to maintain" point? This isn't a "3G" thing this time (mine is 4G), it's an infrastructure change to better support Mercedes me/Digital Extras. I'll miss Send2Benz though, which, is contrary to their Navigation statement "...will not be impacted...".

Have MercedeME in my car which gives me all these additional features including ME and SOS but I think the main reason that Mercedes is getting ride of the older app (I had to update to a new version of the app), is because the cars are getting more tech inside also. I have all the features in my care but there are 11 which I can't have because it's for the big tablet screen MBs.

Is there a hack for the shutdown?

I'm wondering if there's a hack for the two things I care about: (1) Remote start and (2) remote lock/unlock with my phone. I know nothing about programming but couldn't there be a way to add a cheap bluetooth or wifi module connection, say, with a Raspberry Pi? Then integrate that with the starter and remote lock/unlock? Those two things must have some kind of signal receiver to have worked in the first place, so...?

I thought other brands are dealing with the same issue after 3G sundown. Although yes there were LTE versions of MBs running mbrace they could had maintained but it was only part of 2018(?) as any 2019+ model year including switched to Mercedes Me Connect and now it is simply called Mercedes-Benz.

I understand the frustration of taking something away when you already have it, just like taking candy from a baby but in MB's defense, porsche doesn't even have remote start on most of their vehicles. They use Europe prohibits it as the excuse.

Another reason we don’t have a Porsche 😊. I wonder if the electric car company with a T has these issues. I think their vehicles receive over the air updates, even the older ones, older than our cars.

They don't since they are not a brand based in Europe.

Shame what they're doing when the hardware is capable to continue. Looking at options currently to either retrofit upgrade a newer unit or just aftermarket all together. It seems not enough MB owners hold the line and keep their vehicles but just cough up money and upgrade to the next latest and greatest like every other manufacturer. It's getting ridiculous now. How much more tech does a car need at this point.....no more v8, boring styling, more electronic distractions inside the car. I'm no longer driving anymore. It's getting more and more boring. Instead of refinement everyone is choosing to go with what's trending. Venting here, I know, but to have a car now that's 10 years, 5 years, 3 years old etc is much different than back then. Having a 3 yr old car now is like being back in time (which is what they want you to think)

Can you please provide some technical details on how this system is integrated within the car. Is this solution compatible to OEM security protocols?

It appears to require a USB to plug in an update and may require an extra car key to be mounted somewhere discreetly in the car. For a mobile phone use, there seems to be an extra fee.

I never liked that the OEM Mercedes remote start automatically turned off the car once you got to the door to unlock it. This may be better, but I've seen several aftermarket remote starters for the MB over the years and none of them caught my fancy.

The problem with certain aftermarket solutions is that you need to sacrifice one key.

Is this one of them?

Edit: nevermind, the forum member previously already mentioned it to be the case.

2018 MB S560, 2018 Ford F150
A 2018 S560 is my first MB. Bought a few days ago. After installing the Mercedes app on my android phone yesterday was shocked that the car has no remote start capability! In fact the app states the car has no remote capability at all! Unbelievable especially after knowing my 2018 Ford pickup has all those remote access features and more and I am not paying monthly fees. Never in my wildest imagination did I ever think that a Ford F150 would rise head and shoulders above a Mercedes flagship Sclass communication. Never thought I would be disappointed in this car.
