Do you know how to order the European grille and switch it out? I asked my dealership if I could order the new E-Class, then order the hood ornament, and the European grille? They told me they could not order European parts for the U.S. and they would be unable to switch out the grille at the dealership? Any advice? it's the one thing really turning me off of the 2024 E-Class.

I would like to do the euro grille on mine as well and have started looking into it. It looks like it could be a pretty big project. There are electronics in the grille and not sure if coding would be possible or not.

Thank you for the quick response. I live in TN and most of the dealerships near seem to know very little about the 2024 E-Class. Sounds like MBUSA has not done a great job rolling out and educating their sales team. I drove one recently and it was great but the outside definitely needed the more luxury package (hood ornament, grill). Even the MBUSA web site offers very little details, including specific models available. I think changing out the grill wouldn't be difficult but MB dealers may be reluctant to do so (probably a body shop could). I just don't know how to order European parts and my sales person said they did not have such options through their US parts departments. Any similar experiences/feedback from the dealerships? Any tips for how to at least explore buying European parts? I assume the car body would be the same and it would be an easy switch out.

One of the many reasons I prefer the W214 E53 AMG. The flat-bottom AMG steering wheel in my W206 is very nice and reminds me so much of the ones I added to my Audi A4 that made driving so much more pleasurable. Yes, I originally had misgivings and apprehension with capacitance-based touch on the new MB steering wheels, but I am getting a good handle of it now and really love the twin spoke AMG steering wheel design.

I have called several places locally and no one seems to know how to do this for the W214. Also, given that the sensors/radar would be disconnected/reconnected by a 3rd party, I am afraid it could impact warranty.

Just to point out...

You have two options for an upright star, the Polished Silver base version shown in Post #1 (Part #221-880-0086)... and the original upright star with the Blue and Silver base surround (Part#210-880-0186) labelled "Mercedes Benz."

Both are OEM parts and should fit the divot in the hood equally well...

It's too early for anyone to have any experience with the W214. The questions will be
1.) Are there any sort of active shutters behind or attached to the grille? If so, it may not be possible;
2.) If you have grille illumination on the AMG grille but not on the new grille, or vice versa, you'll likely throw a fault of some sort.

Once we learn those answers, a good body shop can absolutely do this and there won't be a problem with the warranty. It's done all the time in the BMW world. Take a look at an M4 forum. Many, many owners have swapped the standard grille to the M4 CSL grille.

Talked to a MB dealer near Atlanta today. At first, he said their Parts Dept. couldn't order the European grill. Then, he called back and said they put in an actual VIN of one of the 2024 Es they have on the lot, and the European grill came up in the Parts system. He said he had the parts number (but didn't share it with me - sure to keep me calling back). He said the grill along with the hood ornament would run a little under $900 and could be swapped out at the dealership.

Did you ever get a part number or this done at the dealer?

No I didn't. I have gotten little response from most dealers nearby - when I do they are really pushing the few they have on the lot and most are white cars without many of the features I want. I think MB is still doing a very slow release. I am concerned about ordering my build until I know for sure aI can definitely change out the grill.

Any luck with the Euro grille? I still have a couple sales guys looking into it - no one is excited about helping me out with it. I have seen some after market "S" class type grilles online but would hate to do something cheap after paying 80K for a car.

Any @ROTN on your grille adventures? I ordered and received my star yesterday, and there are a few China-built grille options out there (that's NOT happening on my new ride), and yesterday, my MB dealer parts guy said he can't find or source the grille for me.

I spent a lot of time talking to a lot of dealers and got a lot of different answers BUT the biggest issue/concern was that by doing an after-market grille replacement, it could invalidate the warranty given all the sensors connected to the grille. That scared me away from doing it.

Ultimately, I decided to buy an S class which has the grille and the ornament already. By the time I built out my E-class and placed an order I was going to be close to 90k with very little discounts. I got an S-Class for about 15k more.

Great point and a deal-breaker here then also. Appreciate the reply.
Nice move, and congrats on the S 👍🏻

The E & S are getting closer price wise. One can get a loaded EQE ($96k) or an EQS with similar equipment ($112k). My next car will be an EQS.

2024 EQE 500
This is off topic so I'll keep it brief. My loaded EQE 500 had a MSRP of 101k. An EQS with (I assume MSRP) of 112k will be a base 450+. To get an EQS 450 equipped similarly to a loaded EQE will cost you way too close to that of an EQS 580. Quite the game I will say.

The base EQS 450+ is $104,400. I added options similar what was on the EQE I configured to arrive at the $112k price.

On a lease do not forget the $7500 on the EV plus discounting which will make the EV's monthly lease payment similar to the ICE.
