When will Digital Lights project images? & Mirror Problem?

Hi Everyone,

I got my car on July 25th and just wondering if/when the update for the digital lights will be available to actually have the package that we paid for lol.

Also, does anyone have any problems where the mirror folding gets turned off when you lock the car every like month or so? Is there something I'm doing. My friend has a 21 S580 and that would happen to him too.

thanks!

The info I have been told for digital light is December 2024. We will see if that holds true. I've never had an issue with the mirrors not folding in and have not heard of others with the W214 with an issue.

As a previous EQS owner, I was highly disappointed when I didn't see my Mercedes Zebras displayed when I unlocked the car through the digital lights package on my W214 (joking), however I hope that we receive an update in the future that enables it to work like in the EQ models.
I never had an issue with the mirrors not folding in unless the setting isn't being saved, did you check if you're running on the latest software update?

Yeah, I'm looking forward to the feature being enabled. Hopefully we will also get road info projected but I'm told that is not approved yet in the US.

I have the same odd issue in my E350 regarding the mirrors.

Randomly, the mirrors will just stop folding in sporadically. I go into the MBUX and the option is deselected. I need to re-enable it and it works again.

I can’t determine why but it “appears” to have something to do with the digital key in my phone vs. locking with the physical FOB. Though this is not consistent. Further, I tend to notice it when I use the door handle touch locking option in place of the APP or the FOB.

Maybe you’ve had the same nuances…

Also - the Digital light option is basically useless in Canada. Had it on my 2023 C300 and options were extremely limited due to laws. Almost no difference from the LED lights on most models. Disappointing.

Upon further reading on the thread, I decided to test the digital key system. As others have reported the mirrors do not seem to fold in if you do not have your key-fob and only use the digital key. I have to do more digging and investigate if this is because you need to manually enter settings while with the digital key and save auto folding mirrors or if this is strictly related to the software update and will be fixed on my next recall appointment for my MBUX. So far you can press the fold-in mirrors from inside of the car, get out, and lock it with the digital key if you wish for your mirrors to stay folded.

I use both a digital dey on my iphone and a standard key, and the mirrors fold in and out normaly whenever i lock/unlock the car.
I turned the option on in settings and there are no issues.
The only time I think they do not fold open is when I unlock the car via mercedes me app and I am not standing next to my car...

Greeting: I have the Digital Light Package and not operational even though I ordered and paid for it. My dealership has been trying to turn it on since I purchased the car in July. Mercedes has apologized and cannot find software to activate it. I may have to wait till First Quarter of 2025 to have the new software and activate the features coming out in December 2024. Dealer states they will pay for any price for software as already paid for and arrange one year free subscription we are entitled when it starts when you take possession of auto. Big disappointing issue as I cannot use the
welcome and Farewell of the lights under Digital Light right now. Still an open case. No issue with my mirrors.

Greetings: I finally received the answer to the Digital Light Package. If we picked this feature as an option, which I did and is on the Build Sheet, that is only to have the digital lights head lamps and the hard wired setup for the Welcome/Farewell lights and the Support Projections. You still have to have the software update to our MBUX System coming out first quarter of 2025, and then purchase the app and subscription from Mercedes.Me Online or through its app. The manual does not state this and the dealership did not know. Took three months before I had an answer, calling everyone every three weeks since July 31, 2024. December 2024 is suppose to be when the US transportation will approve these features especially adaptive light beans.
Let's stay in touch with each other as we see what happens over the next few months.
Be well. Roadrunner.

Thanks for this update. I had the intelligent lights activated on my W213 by a company in the UK, and they really made a difference. Hope the info that we will get the digital features and intelligent lights first quarter is great. About time the government allows this

you pay for this as part of an order and yet its a 'subscription'? sounds like a ripoff to me to have to pay more than once.

I’m wondering if the projections will be a one time permanent subscription or a yearly charge. Once it’s installed there should be no need for further charges.

MB is moving toward subscription "features" such as faster acceleration. Subscriptions provide an ongoing revenue stream. Personally, my only subscriptions are for internet services and cell phone services.

The subscription doesn’t come with any physical hardware upgrades — instead, it simply unlocks the full capabilities of the vehicle, indicating that Mercedes intentionally limited performance to later sell as an optional extra. Acceleration Increase is only available for the Mercedes-EQ EQE and Mercedes-EQ EQS electric car models.
