Angry Awful Wiper Noise

Since I got the car, the wipers have been jumping/chattering across the windshield. I have tried numerous suggestions found on forums but to no avail.

Here are the things I have tried
- Polished the windshield
- Waxed the windshield
- Applied NuFinish
- Tried with nothing on the windshield
- New OEM wiper blades
- New aftermarket blades
- Replacing only the rubber on the OEM wipers
- Silicone spray on the blades
- Clay bar on the glass
- Adjusting the wiper arm tension
- Dealership buffed the windshield with a "special cleaner"

I have tried all of these, yet nothing has helped. At this point, the wipers drive me crazy every time it rains...
Has anyone else experienced this and found a solution that works?

Mine were 100% quiet. So quiet my wife commented on how quiet they were 😂. Then I ran it through a touchless car wash. Now the passenger side chatters and is noisy. At least in my case it has to be the car wash wax on the windshield. I was going to order the cleaner Mercedes recommends but it might not work assuming that’s what your dealer cleaned yours with.

Yes that makes sense, another thing is it doesn't like RainX.

They are quiet now thankfully!
I tried a different glass polish, then loosened the tension of the wiper arm springs a little and adjusted the angle of the arm

I used griots fine glass polish and went over the glass with a DA polisher

What windshield fluid do you use? I know Rain-X is bad for MB.

That is certainly not true.

In 2015 a class action law suit against Rain - X was initiated.

The action was then dismissed in 2017.

The final settlement was limited to Mercedes between 2013 and 2017.

Today Rain X windshield wiper fluid is as good as any other: Point of fact I have been using it for over 6 years without any problem.

However I would never put Rain X, or any other product on my windshield. Clean glass is the best.

I agree with JTK44 that plain water is the best. I use the same distilled water that I use in the kitchen because Pinellas County water contains low levels of several inorganic contaminants, disinfectant byproducts, lead and copper.

Good to know that. I saw mixed reviews after 2018 regarding whether Rain-X damaged sensors or clogged the nozzles. If rain-x hasn't changed their formula of windshield fluid since 2017 or mb hasn't made their sensors stronger, it could be risky.

I haven't added Rain-x windshield fluid to my car yet, but I applied their windshield treatment product and the wiper began to make noise right away - much better now as it been washed away gradually.

Great for Florida, but certainly not for New York.

The lawsuit was for years 2013 - 2015. It was dismissed then settled with small amount to each claimant - less than $200 each.. I am sure the formula for the windshield washer was re-constituted as a result of the lawsuit.

I trust Costco: That is where I buy my Rain-X windshield fluid.

Wipers work best on plane clean glass. When I put Meguiar's Ceramic Hybrid wax was on my car, I try as best as I can, to keep the wax off of my windshield. Works fine on the side and rear view windows: water beads up nicely but when it gets on the wind shield the wipers can chatter.

This happened to me when I first bought the car in July. Now, it happens once in a GREAT while! although, I go to the car wash every week if not twice a week so I'm sure the windshield was worn down. But seems to work great now.
