Pinnacle Trim / Illuminated Grill

Hello,

I am considering the 2025 E 450 All-Terrain. Regarding the Pinnacle Trim, can the illuminated grill be switched off separately?

Thanks, Geoff

No, it cannot. There is no control to turn it on or off that i have seen. I'm not sure if it's tied to the lights and is only on when the lights are on. I don't normally see the front since I'm behind the wheel.

It cannot be turned off. It is part of the headlight circuit. It is pretty subtle though.

As everyone else said, nope. It really is a little tacky, isn't it? At least the star isn't illuminated. I bet there's some wiring harness you can disconnect to force it off, but whether the car would get mad at you, I don't know.

My personal list of cosmetic tweaks or paid options I'd like:

* Body colored cladding on AT
* Night package blacks out grille chrome, trunk badge, chrome on door handles, chrome strip above taillights
* Plain puddle light projections
* Menu option to disable illuminated grille
* Model badge deletion as an option from factory like it is in Europe

Some of these can be done by the buyer (badge deletion, some of the extended night package), but...come on. Let me pay you another $1000 to do it right, Mercedes.

I have the illuminated grille on mine and I specifically wanted it. I think it gives the car a nice presence at night. There's no way to turn it off. It comes on when the headlights come on, but the grille does not light up during the daytime with the DRLs if the switch is on AUTO.

I didn't want (to pay for) some of the aesthetics offered, but they are bundled with other stuff I wanted. For the AT, the pinnacle trim includes:
  • Illuminated grille
  • Head-Up Display
  • Heat- and noise-insulating glass
  • Active ambient lighting
and I just wanted the glass and HUD, but I also must have the grille and active lighting.

What I found interesting, is that the pinnacle trim for the sedan includes:
  • Illuminated grille
  • Head-Up Display
  • Burmester 4D Surround Sound System
  • Sound Personalization
  • Dolby Atmos
  • Apple Spatial Audio
  • Heat- and noise-insulating glass
  • Active ambient lighting
But Mercedes USA sets the same price for both of these different pinnacle trims... $3400. Some of these are just software (e.g., audio format stuff) and cost them nothing per-unit, but the Burmester is a difference in hardware and presumably costs more than the standard audio hardware.
I think the AT has all these extra features in the sedan pinnacle option as standard features, but that means you paid from them in the base price of the vehicle.

So, why the big difference in features, but listed at the same price? Seems the AT pinnacle trim is overpriced. (Is that even possible with a luxury brand!)

Weirdly, the pinnacle trim actually costs $2,550 per the order guide and (I believe) the monroney stickers, despite the online configurator always charging $3,400.

Yes, you are right. It looks like the configurator is not correct and that they actually have different pricing. From a sticker on a car for sale at a dealer website, they list the pinnacle trim for the AT as "DX2 - Pinnacle Trim $2,550", so what you would expect at about $1,000 less. Thanks!

Also of note for those like me using the configurator (and they note this error on the website), the leather package is charged at $800, when it should be $350 if you include the multi-contour seat option.

Love all those options! Thanks for posting that info.
