Go back into your app and click the wording of your model above the picture of the auto. You will see Digital Extras. Click and pick the Comfort Digital Extras. There you will see to activate the free data. Works quite well and the music from the Apple Music using Atmos system is terrific with the online Apple Music as opposed to Car Play Apple Music. There is a difference.

With the data plan, I decided to do a speed test and got interesting results. Initially it gave about 50Mbps download speed but it grew to nearly 100Mbps by the time it completed. It defaulted to a NY based server and said that my IP is in NJ when I'm in TN. I looked up my IP and it's owned by Deutsche Telekom North America, Inc and located in Red Bank, NJ. Switching to a server closer to where I was physically located in TN got really bad throughput of 20Mbps.
I suspect that all data is going to NJ before being routed to the car. Switching to TN likely made it route to NJ first before routing back to me in TN. I'm going to do some more tests but I thought the results were odd. My phone on 5G got 677Mbps download while sitting at the same location.
if you want to run a speed test yourself, open the Vivaldi browser on the car screen and search for speed test. I prefer the Ookla Speedtest myself. Then just follow the prompts.

Up until yesterday, like several others who posted, I was not able to activate the free data plan (clicking on Activate brings up another screen but without further action button). However, I tried again today and there is an Accept Terms of Service button on the next screen for final processing of the activation process. Incidentally, this activation process cannot be completed via the Mercedes Me website but only on the iphone/ipad app (and also one has to be logged into the owner's account and not authorized user accounts).

Agreed. With this free data plan, it is more enticing for me to renew my Mercedes Me subscription when it expires in about a year (assuming that it still includes the free data plan upon renewal).

It certainly provides more value for the subscription price. Most of the add-ons are worthless to me, but you have to buy (subscribe) all of them or nothing.

Hmm. Just bought a 2025 AMG C43 Coupe. Under "Digital Extras", everything is activated EXCEPt under MBUX entertainment. If I go to that screen on the app, I'm only given the option to purchase Augmented radio; comfort data volume; in-car app pass; online music and internet radio. Am I missing something? App is ver. 3.53.3

Seems they are slowly making this the default from the start. I took delivery of a 2025 E53 two days ago and the "Comfort Data Volume" was checked in my App without me taking any action. The car has an internet connection already without me having to purchase a plan or tether my phone. I suspect I will need to renew this in one year at some cost. Good first experience though.

Finally after I reported the free data plan I finally have it. It seems everyone’s downloaded and worked as expected. Mine would not process even after several app updates and a system update.
Today I received a notification that my digital extras were updated. I tried the process again and it worked.
No real difference from tethering my phone but I’m glad it’s operational.

I don't think any of us know. It's listed as a digital extra and it's called "Comfort Data Volume" with a description of "Complementary data to unleash the entertainment potentials of your vehicle". I think ita an odd choice for the name even as for marketing.

I just made a thread asking for this, but I'm still not seeing comfort data in the app (version 3.55). Maybe I missed it, but did you have to do something for it to show up or it did by itself? I have a brand new g550 if that makes any difference.

My son's 2024 W214 Mercedes Me subscription just ended and is up for renewal. I can confirm that the renewal subscription cost ($150/year) does include "Comfort Data Volume" (i.e. free complimentary data) as one of the features in the Digital Extras.

Good to know. Mine will come up for renewal the end of August and i was hoping that was the case.
