Hybrid means "e" in the model, like E350e? I think all the E classes are at least mild-hybrid for now?

Some subjects got specific to 214.063 or specified ME10, etc. A 2025 E 53 is Chassis 214.063 sedan; .263 wagon; Engine 256.830 and Transmission 725.181.
Could you look up the part numbers of the engine air filter/dust filter/cabin air filter for E450? I usually change these filters and engine oil/filter on my cars, but now finding the right part numbers becomes the most difficult part of it.

They all work just like how the oil drain plug had different parts numbers for the same reason. I recommend removing the one you have and checking the part number then buying that same one if you are concerned.

MB likes to have many part numbers for some reason and that is interesting I guess it started only recently plus they superseded a few in such a short manner.

It might also have something to do with different options of the vehicle some with more advanced filtration but probably not because in the past and from what I remembered they don't have several part numbers of the same item, ie. That drain plug unless they supersede it.

There is a HEPA filter and Air Balance Package so the filter material may be different among the part numbers. A HEPA filter will cost more.

My method is to call a MB dealership parts dept, give them my VIN and get the PN for my specific car. Then look for that PN elsewhere to see where the best price is after factoring in shipping cost. So far, the dealership is best on price for the filter and drain plug. I keep an extra of each on hand along with oil so I'm always ready to change oil without having to wait.

That is a good idea and good to have a spare in case things go backordered.

What is the going rate for an oil change at the MB dealership with 229.71 oil for the M256 engine? The cost for the oil, filter, and drain plug is around $135.

I'm not sure but I bet it's at least another $150 over the cost of materials. I've done my own so far, but will bring it in for the official 10K and will find out then. Of course, they will charge another $150 to look around and "inspect" but it's good to get a decent visual even if it's way over priced.

Four months ago the last A service (E300) at my dealer cost $90 for oil, filter, plug and an additional $179 for labor for a total $268. That included various inspections and a free loaner.

To avoid the $150 look around, my dealer has what is called "Express service" which is really all you want. Make appointment and you are finished in under an hour: No need for a loaner. oil change and filter: cost $225.

I suspect your dealer has the same.

My dealer also offers express service, but I do not want to sit for an hour waiting. Not included with express service are inspections, car wash, etc. that are part of the the A service. I'm not sure what the express cost is.

Not hard but not as easy as using an oil extraction method. I've changed my W214 E450 twice now. Not hard at all.
Can the air intake piece be removed to access the oil filter without removing the engine cover? In the E53 I think the extra cross brace over the top of the engine would have to be removed in order to remove the engine cover.

It may be possible, but i don't know. I've always taken it off since it's so easy to do.

I ordered mine on Amazon, but you should be able to find it elsewhere. You can also use Motul 8100 Eco-Clean 0W-20 or Mobile 1 Ultimate X2 0W-20 which are all listed as approved MB Operating Fluids (here) but I found it easier to find the Liqui Moly. Regarding the oil filter, the PN that came out of my car on the initial oil change was 254-184-07-00 however doing an online search for the M256 engine says 256-184-00-00. My dealership said the PN was 254-184-06-00 which is what I have used twice now and it worked fine. Mercedes-Benz also says you should replace the plastic drain plug however I kept the same one for my initial oil change, but changed it on the second. The original PN that came off the car was 654-997-00-5 but my dealership says the PN is 002-990-20-17. They look identical. Cost for the filter at my dealership was $21 and $17.50 for the drain plug.

Original Oil Filter from factory

New Oil Filter with PN 254-184-05-00 while the box and the order sheet from dealer says 254-184-06-00. I don't know why there is a difference but both the new filters I bought had the same dependency.

The two plugs, top is original factory PN 654-997-00-56 and bottom is new from dealership PN 002-990-20-17. They are identical.

Here is a better look at the new drain plug

A fat screwdriver works okay to remove and install this drain plug but there is a tool they make specifically for this. It's much easier than a screwdriver and there is less chance you will gouge the plug since it's plastic and fits snug into the slot of the drain plug. It's $10 and can be found on Amazon. If you are going to do your own oil changes then it may be worth getting. It short so easy to work in a tight space and the tool gives you plenty of torque to turn the drain plug. The drain plug itself is very loose until the last 1/4 turn where it has a clear catch to ensure it's tight.

One word of advice when draining the oil. Loosen the plug to where oil is coming out but don't take it completely off initially. Let it drain slowly with the plug in place but loose so you can control the flow. Then once it's going very slow you can remove it all the way. If you just remove it completely the oil will come out with such force it will splatter everywhere. I speak from experience here. I was planning on doing a write-up on doing an oil change but haven't taken the time. There are other things to watch out for such as how much oil you remove and how much you put back in while making sure you do not overfill the engine.
That oil filter seems like made by Hengst. Thus it's Hengst e159hd - if you don't buy MB logo, it's like $10 on rockauto and amazon.
