New Software Update

Am I behind on software? I just had this pushed to me this morning. I thought a few people already had this version installed.

Maybe this is why my free data plan won’t process?

Companies do that, for example, phone companies do it so if there is a bug that causes issues, they can quickly pull the update so it impacts less people.

Without knowing the actual MBUX version, it's hard to say. I have E262.3-4975 in my 2025 E450 and it's been the same since I purchased the car in August. I suspect its MBUX 3.1.x. I had a 2024 lease that was upgraded to 3.2 that I documented here. It was E263.0-5078. It had issues that I describe in the linked post. The only time I have ever seen a 3.x reference on the software version is on the update itself. The car has a completely different version scheme as noted above. It would be nice if there was a cross reference, but I have yet to see one. I would at least think that 3.2.1 is Exxx.x-xxxx where "x" is greater than 263.0-5078 which isn't saying much. By the way, the 2024 lease started with E056.9.113 which is supposed to at least be MBUX 3.x but it's hard to say exactly what that version is.

I can say that in the software world versioning is not standard however in a typical 3 part version such as 3.2.1 the first part is the major version and doesn't typically change until there is a complete new design. The second is the minor version number that typically is used for new features or updates to existing features. The third is the patch or revision and typically used for bug fixes. That would mean that 3.2.1 does not add new functionality over 3.2.0 but has some bug fixes. I can't say this is what MB is doing, but it's a common approach in the software development lifecycle.

I’ll have to check my current software level. I didn’t install the update yet. My system has a few issues. It defaulted to a blue screen only showing the speedometer once. My facial recognition doesn’t work and I can’t get the free data to process. Also the digital light features aren’t loaded.
Hopefully this will resolve some of those issues. I wasn’t going to the dealer until my first service was due to address the above items.

I know the digital light features are supposed to be resolved with a major update and this isn’t that update.
