I occasionally get verbal alerts of a pothole ahead or possible skidding, etc. Does anyone know how this works? Is there a way to report road hazards to the system for others to be alerted or is it strictly from events sensed by the car?

The car itself reports hazards to the X server. The driver has no control. Through the years I've had several vehicles with car to X, but have never received an alert.

Yes I’ve got those alerts to in my 214. Tells me there is a pothole up ahead and sure enough there is. I was wondering too how the car knows this?

A car equipped with Car to X encountered the pothole and reported it to the X server (via cellular) which then alerts others approaching the location.

The other car goes through the pothole and the suspension detects it then it reports it to other vehicles that is equipped with Car-to-X.

Probably because you live in Florida. Here in the Northeast some roads are so bad that MB could just run the pothole message in a loop.

IIRC there was a pothole reported a few months ago, but it was immediately repaired.

Thanks all. Useful information. Didn’t really there were sensors on the suspension reporting to car X. Cool. My 213 must have not been enabled with car X.

I feel sorry for the guy who hit some of the potholes I’ve been warned about.

Neat as I almost jumped out of the car when I received an alert of a pothole. And they are there. Problem at night or with fog, you do not know where it is like daytime. I did hit a small pothole after warned 10 seconds earlier Saturday with fog and mist. Amazing.

If you open the engine data menu or was it vehicle data menu, you can see each individual shock absorber doing its thing. That is what the computer uses to tell other Car to X vehicles.
