MBUX apps

I just bought a 2000mile 2024 wagon. Love it and it's good to be back in an E Class.

I'm trying to figure out how I can display 3rd party apps on the passenger screen. Is there a way I can put weather radar on the passenger without using CarPlay?
Thanks,

You can only run the apps MB allows on the system or from AA and ACP. There are some hardware solutions that will provide a CarPlay type interface to the car and allow for a more customizable user experience. I've not used one myself, but there are a few threads on that topic in the past.

If you do not have a passenger, you cannot use the supper screen other than to put a decorative image on it. I doubt any 3rd party device would allow you to bypass that unless you somehow fake the car out to make it think there is a passenger.

How about a wireless AI car play dongle plugged into the usb port and run it in usb mode? There’s no problem with the vehicle being in motion as this will still display video but I’ve just been kinda of hesitant to try mine on this 214 with all the blank screen/software issues. Worked fine on my old 2019 e450 and could play YouTube music videos for my passenger. Guess I’d need a usb adapter for the 214 to convert the small usb port to accommodate the larger old style usb but those are sold on Amazon. I think when I bought the wireless AI Apple car play module it came with an adapter. Anybody tried one of these wireless car play adapter in the 214 port yet? Just not sure how it would work as the 214? These cars have wireless car play already and perhaps it would be a conflict issue but if the car was Turned onto usb mode in this case wouldn’t think it would be an issue?

That wouldn't make a difference to the OPs goal and creates an overly complicated setup that doesn't do anything in the end. Changing from wired to wireless has no impact on the limits MBUX imposes on the use of the passenger screen or the apps you can use in MBUX or ACP/AA.

But it gets you video in motion and the AI apple car play module has You Tube and Netflix and whatever apps you want to load onto it. Works fine in al my other vehicles including my 2018 S class. I’ve just been hesitant to try it on my 214 e class as like I said having two wireless signals going on so close together could create conflicts. Not really sure.

It's doing more than just adding wireless car play then. What is the make and model of the device you have?

That is not just a wireless car play adapter. It's doing a lot more than that. That would work in allowing additional apps that car play does not allow normally but you must use the wired car play interface to use it.

The OP asked about their passenger screen and did not specify if a person would be sitting in the passenger seat. Assuming there is, the passenger screen would need to support wired car play (or android auto) to use this device on that screen. I've never tried doing that but it's an easy test. If there is no passenger then I doubt that device would work for the passenger screen since it becomes disabled. This is exactly what I expressed in my initial response to the OP.
