E450 Multicontour seats

Hey!

I wanted to know about how comfortable the seats are in the E Class sedan. I am 6 1 and I get some lower back discomfort. I like driving and normally do 2 hours commute round trip.

are these seats comfortable for this amount of drive time? Are they good with pressure points and are they plush? Specifically about the cushions. I could care less about the massage heat and vent that’s common stuff in this class. Or if someone wants to reccomend another Mercedes that’s more comfortable cushions.

THANKS In advance

Comfort is subjective so what's comfortable to me may not be to you. I have the multi-countour seats and love them. They are a bit stiffer, but have better lumbar and side bolster adjustments over the standard seats. I had a 2024 E350 that had the standard seats that I put 6K miles on but no trips longer than 2 hours. I felt they were comfortable as well. I now have a 2025 E450 with the multi-countour seets and like them better. I've taken several trips of 3+ hours in the seat in one stretch and while I still needed to take a break, I felt they were quite comfortable for the time I was in the car. Two of my trips were over 1000 miles with just a few stops for gas and food. I did have the massage running most of the time and often had seat kinetics on as well. Others may have different experiences and opinions, but to me, they are quite comfortable.

thank you yeah I get it is. It seems like the market today sucks for car seats.

You're welcome. By the way, for reference, I'm 6'1" as well and weigh about 235lbs. Good luck on your decision.

im 205 so pretty similar. You don’t find the headroom an issue it seems to offer about 38 inches which seems to be standard

Hehe, I need to be 205 🫠

I have no issues with headroom. I do keep the seat low to the floor and very little if any reclining. Fits me perfectly. My adult son is 6'3" and has no headroom issues front or back. Back seats are a little hard to get in/out, but that is due to the opening. Once in, its not bad in the back, but it's no S-Class.

I have the regular leather seats and find them not to be as comfortable as I’d like. If the additional $3k for the contour seats is not prohibitive to you, I’d go for it…

I totally agree. The seats are very firm. I try to limit driving sessions to less than an hour between breaks. Most of my driving is within the Pinellas County metro area. That said, it takes about 2 hours to drive cross town (52 miles).

Not sure if i am the unusual case. But I have to use a cushion if seated for more than 45 min in my 2024 E 450. Seat feels flat. Maybe having the cooling fan and or massage takes away some cushioning? My wife's GLC is a lot more comfortable, not flat, no cushion needed. It does not have cooling fan or massage. My car is cpo bought a few months ago. Part of my problem is that I lost 30 lbs, much from my butt. So now I have boney butt. 6 foot and 190. Ask the salesperson to let you sit in the car for 60 minutes, then you'll know for sure.

The seats are super adjustable with good lumbar adjustments, and good heat, so may be perfect for your back?

I have the standard seats, no massage, and to me I feel like I'm sitting ON them rather than IN them. Not a lot of give and the side bolstering is almost non-existent. Having said that, I've done a couple of 6 hour drives, only stopping for gas, and was comfortable enough at the end. Much better than in my '19 CLS. 5'10", 186 lbs.

That is not good, how is a C-Class more comfortable than an E-Class

The good news is the W214 seats are still more comfortable than the W213: https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w...t-comfort.html

Comfort is quite subjective. Saying one car is more comfortable than another is just stating one person's preferences. To me, comfort is more about support, pressure points, and how distributed your weight is. Hard seats to some are more comfortable than plush seats to many. Why do you think there are so many different beds with varying levels of firmness or plushness. (are those even words &#128512 For me, the E has some of the most comfortable seats I've been in. Others feel its the least comfortable. Where each person lands depends on them and their own personal preferences. Only way to really know is to experience them for yourself.

Yes perhaps it also depends on if they had back injury, for example, I have a bad back and I can't find myself comfortable in a lot of seats.

Some people prefer firmer seats others perform softer seats. Some prefer more bolster, some prefer the opposite.

I agree. I have no padding around the lowest part of my pelvic structure (ischium bones), so I need a soft seat to reduce the pressure.

If we are stuck with certain seats, as an alternative fix, what do you think of those gel cushions on amazon at Walmart, I seen it reported to be helpful on the forums.

I've never tried a gel cushion. My cushion is air cooled memory foam.

The gel cushions didn't work for me with the CLS. I ended up with a sheep skin/fur piece of material. Added cushioning and avoided any sweaty tush occurrence.

Gel feels like sitting on water, memory foam is better to be honest.

That works too, better than buying another car just because of the seats if you can just get a cushion that is comfortable. Protects the seat as well, unless the cushion constantly slides in the seat (say, when cornering).
