The Silver is so classic on a Mercedes. I just sold my 23 Macan S in Chalk. I loved it at first, but got tired of the Grey. Went back to silver on my 2026 E450.
Any ideas how to tell if the inventory shown on mbusa.com is customer ordered and sold or store inventory? Is it from "reservations available" option on the listing?

I had a Silver W211 and a Silver R230 when my grandson was three. He couldn't understand why his mother's Pacifica wasn't a Mercedes since it was also silver. Even a three year old kid knows that MBs should be Silver.
Continuing with my data collection, we're up to 87 tracked E53 Wagons. The only ones that I don't have are the ones which never showed in MBUSA inventory. I have tracked 29 of the Edition 1 models and 58 of the regular ones so far. Since E1s skew most of the results I have two columns one with and one without the E1 cars in the stats.
Notable findings:
1) Alpine Grey continues to be the most popular color with the two other MANUFACTUR colors being close second and third.
2) Napa black is the most popular but the other two leather choices are very close too
3) Only 5 cars were ordered with the MB-Tex so far
4) 2/3 of the non E cars have RED seatbelts while the rest has Black,
5) 3 out of 4 cars have Pinnacle Trim level and the rest has Exclusive trim. Only one car was ordered without either
6) CF on the inside is very popular
7) More than half the cars have the 21" black forged wheel
8) Every non E1 has Driver Assistance Package
9) Most popular Options are Driver Assistance Package, Pinnacle Trim, AMG Night Package Plus, Soft Close Doors, and the Multicontour seats
10) Only 3 non E1 cars have the AMG Performance Seats
If I take all options that are over 50% (non-E1) the car would be:
Alpine Grey
Black Nappa Leather
Pinnacle Trim
Piano Black Trim
Carbon Fiber Center Console
21" Forged Black Wheels
Heater Rear Seat
Soft-Close Doors
MBUX Superscreen
Driver Assistance Package
Multicontour Seats
AMG Dynamic Plus
AMG Night Package Plus MSRP: $118,590
X253 GLC3004M, 222 S400, Ferrari Roma, Tesla Model S

It just works so well. In our family, my mom and dad have had Silver Mercedes for the longest time. We’ve had W210, W211, W221, W212 (2 of them), W222 in all types of silver.
I do miss the older slivers like Iridium Silver. That blue hue is nice and modern but there is something so classy about the old silver.
The cheapest E53 so far is $102,090 in Littleton, CO and the most expensive is $124,040 in West Palm Beach, FL. :-) Also that cheapest one is the only lllllllllllllllE53 without Driver Assist Package in the US (E1 excluded).
^ I ordered without DAP (and with perf seats, Night Pkg, maple trim, and in black, making it a real oddball by your stats), but it is still held at the port for a recall along with 500+ other cars. Or so it was relayed to me from MBUSA...

Yup, that will be an oddball, but nothing wrong with that, as long as you like what you ordered.
Not my car but this is the E1 we test drove and it's the color and wheels my wife fell in love with (fell in love might be an overstatement, she said OK to is more appropriate). Note that on the Edition 1 Wagon even the wheel hub cover has yellow accents unlike the sedan which was white/silver.

I'm curious. What is so special about an Edition 1 car other than an appearance package? Is there more too it than that?
Basically what @wdimagineer said. The only thing he missed is that it comes with the Exclusive Trim level.
If you chose to option a car like it, except the Edition 1 color specific elements, you'd be looking at an MSRP of $116,400 that is priced at $120,450.
It's $4,000 markup over the regular one and you get a fixed set of options that you may or may not like. I personally wouldn't get an E53 with the AMG Performance Seats or one without Driver Assistance Package so it is an absolute non-starter for me.
The only thing that you really can't replicate for a reasonable cost are the seats. Note that the yellow seats are actually a regular option item in Europe and you can get them on the Multicontour seats as well and they cost the exact same price as the regular black ones, so MBUSA deciding to create a limited scarcity by making it E1 Exclusive is purposeful way to keep people from getting it. You can also get a Polestar and get yellow seats/seatbelts so it's like whatever....
For the wheel center caps and decals, I'm sure you will be able to order it from a parts catalog for a lot less than $4k if that is your thing, so you could make it look like an Edition 1 from the outside.
People think the Edition 1 will be some kind of collector's item and it is worth the extra $4k. To those I'll ask, is there a different residual on the E1? Don't think so which means even MBUSA doesn't think they're worth any more than the regular ones. It's a I6 with a PHEV powertrain. I don't think these will be collector's cars. They are phenomenal vehicles but I only bought it over the E450 All-Terrain because it has a PHEV powertrain that I love and see the utility in and I also don't really care for the plastic cladding on the All-Terrain. The price difference is about the same as it is between a GLC 300 and a GLC 350e (which I bought for my daughter).

The night package makes the car look so much better. I had the night package on my 2022 E450, but not in the 2025.....should have gotten it !

I think it's color dependent. The black looks really sharp on white and lighter colored cars but the Chrome really pops on blue and black unless you want to go for the full blackout look.
On Blue I'd likely get the chrome and the silver wheels. But on Alpine Grey it definitely looks great! I even opted for the same wheels only cause of the looks.
Edit: I just looked at the car inventory and boy was I right:
The cars that sport the OG chrome (a total of 12 out of 90) 8 of them are Nautical Blue :-) There is a Verde Silver, an Obsidian Black and two Moonlight White (one matte).
Incidentally, all Nautical Blue cars in inventory (all 8) have Chrome and none has the night package.

I am keeping the OG chrome on my Sonoran Brown. I think it looks better than the night package (black) on brown.

Yes, absolutely. The Chrome works on the dark cars and the Night package on the lighter colored cars.

With the Sonoran Brown Metallic (which is the color of my car too), I like the Night Package, since I saw a Sonoran Brown with the night package, and it looked really good. But the Chrome works pretty well too.
Push comes to shove, I can always put a black "wrap" on the chrome areas, and give it a "night package"
Looks fantastic!! Especially on the E450 wagon because of the black cladding around the wheelwells and the black kickplate (not sure what that strip at the bottom of the car is called).
Thanks for the Sonoran Brown pics!!! I am always trying to get a view of this color (especially on a wagon) to make sure my order is the correct color for me...
Sonoran Brown looks like so many different colors depending on the lighting!! I think in Europe the color is called Velvet Brown. I can see why they might call this color velvety in certain lighting in the 3rd pic.
