where to put ez pass

just got my 2026 nautical blue over neve gray E450 home. where do I put the ez pass on the windshield? on my former GLE 450 it had to go in a special section on the upper right near the mirror because of the special glass in the warmth and comfort package. I have that equivalent in the new car. thanks in advance.

It's the top right (passenger's side) corner and the bottom center of the windshield for the W223.
I'm sure your manual states where to put the transponders.

Wow, did someone **** in your coolaid?
Dude, I figured the infrared blocking glasses MB uses would have a similar design in terms of coating patterns and was telling you as a reference.
It's in your user manual. read it first.

All this back and forth and no mention on if the manual actually states where to put the transponders. I looked in mine, and there is no mention of the word transponder in any of the manuals or the online manual for the E-Class. Lots of mentions of the integrated toll system but nothing on having a standalone transponder and where to put it. There was another post on this that can be found if you search.

Some advice - assume good intent, even when it may sound like it's not. It's hard to know when reading posts unless it's been made crystal clear by the poster. I didn't take the initial response as being condescending but I can see how it might be taken that way if reading it while in a bad mood.

Not condescending at all. Informative, and comparative because the reply assumes more than just one model’s owners will read the thread.

When the pissing match is over, could someone answer the OP’s question?

I, for one, am curious to know if the ‘windows’ for transponders in the 214 are any better for radar detectors than those in the 213 (which are terrible).

It’s almost like, if a poster read all the thread replies, before posting, they would know if a question had been answered.
It’s also like, saying that the pissing contest might not be over, is adding to the pissing contest.
It’s also like, if someone assumed the best, instead of the worst, there would not even be 1 pissy post.

I think part of the problem has to do with having no mention of the location in the W214's manual while was mentioned in other models as forum members pointed out in the thread they linked.

Speaking of warmth and comfort (or discomfort) - the car got very hot (left outside - please don't mention garage) and the EZ Pass stickers (usually very strong) melted off. Any thoughts on how that could be improved?

In answer to above: I have it up top next to rear view (on left - but would be smarter on right...). Works every time (except for when it melted off and I forgot...)

On the W213 one can see the area when viewing the windshield outside from an angle.

So what related for those in NY: anyone know if the E53 qualifies for the green EZ Pass tag that gets you discounted tolls? My X5 45e qualifies. Saves you a few $.

went and answered my own question: it does qualify. If you live in NY and drive a 53E, you should apply for the green plan.

If legal in your state, perhaps windshield tinting.

I no longer need an E-Z Pass transponder, but when I did it was mounted on the front bumper where a license plate would go. (Florida doesn't use a front license plate.)

Regardless of where you position the transponder, you need to check your EZ-PASS account (or other service) to make certain that the transponder is actually being read. In my EQS SUV I had the transponder in the designated area next to the rear view mirror, and over a couple of months I ran up $180 in toll violations. Eventually I moved the transponder to the sunroof glass where it worked flawlessly.

The W214 E53 Hybrid does not seem to be very picky on transponder location. Next to the rear view mirror on passenger side works fine.

I wouldn't imagine any of the W214 variants would be different in that regard.

If you just purchased the car, your salesperson would--should-- be able to help you. One of the first things my salesperson pointed out when he did the "here are your keys" handover was that the car has an infra-red film in the windshield which messes with the signal and showed me where to place the transponder....and then stuck it in place (I have mine mounted on a suction cup bracket).
