I love mine also. I am averaging in the 30+ mpg. Truly an under rated car. And I have 6 consecutive Sclass vehicles and I think this wagon is the cats pajamas!!! And I think she will hold value slightly better than sedans or SUV.

Just my two cents

Love mine too. Review is on the money, even though their mileage of 25mpg does not align to mine. The lowest I have gotten, is 26.4mpg, during a 1500 mile trip, with a roof-top box, and around 1000 lbs of luggage and people and dogs in the car.

Great review: but summer performance tires on a station wagon???? Isn't that an oxymoron?

For your sake I hope so, but sincerely doubt it: Go to KBB.com and you will see that SUV's as a class hold their value the best, then sedans. Specialty cars or premium cars tend to depreciate the most: S class, Maybach, BMW 740 and Audi 8's. With a substantial premium over the standard E Class, expect the AT to not hold its value as well as a standard E Class. BTW, the residuals on a lease for the AT are worse than the residuals on the E Class, indicating that Mercedes thinks the AT will not hold its value as well as the E Class. At a higher starting price, even if the residuals are the same for the AT and the E Class, the dollar depreciation on the AT will be greater than on the E Class.

With regard to depreciation, the sad fact is that the more you pay, the more you lose.

But you didn't buy the AT to save money but to enjoy it - so do!

Does that mean the E53 wagon is the ultimate oxymoron? I love performance and I love that I can haul stuff. Putting my performance on stilts with plastic cladding is the issue, not the summer tires

All true. But if you're like me and drive them until the wheels fall off, then put new wheels on and drive them some more, who cares about depreciation? AT or wagon are not lease friendly cars. They're niche within the luxury niche and therefore they cost more.

Yes indeed! And I love the Nautical Blue. That color might be the reason we have a '22 E450 4Matic now. That plus the leather option. Despite not being able to control the transmission exactly as I'd like, I've been pleased with the car overall, especially the 450 engine.

Love mine as well. I've had my AT for 7 months now and once I figured out the screen and other design changes, I'm glad I upgraded from my W213 AT. My AT with 19 inch wheels also came standard with summer tires but my dealer switched them to all season tires. As I commented on another thread, I'm shopping around for winter tires for the upcoming ski season and will post an update at the end of the ski season. According to the MB app, my recent milage driving around NYC was 12.3 mpg with an average speed of 7 mph!

That's akin to sitting standstill in a parking lot, with the engine running. 7 mph avg !! Ouch.
