2026 E450 - Is this price I negotiated fair?

82k MSRP
-8,400 discount
-2,500 incentives (conquest, AAA)
Net = 71k
+1,300 dealer fees
+500 registration
+ sales tax (NY)

OTD 79.4k

Does this seem like a solid price for a 2026 E450? Not the exact specs I wanted, but close. Dealership fee seems steep, but the discount seemed good enough to make up for it…idk?

I don't know either. I would compare to other dealers. I live near DC and it was well worth it to me to go to Mercedes of Lancaster PA last year. Andy Fox was the sales person. It can be hard to find a well speced e450. I have a 2023 with every option bought as a cpo.

You might tell them the fees are too high, throw in two years of maintenance and we have a deal.

I got 11% off on my custom ordered 2025 E450 Verde Silver, Airmatic and Massage seats. Your deal looks similar to mine.

Location not an issue. I lived in Cali for 13 years. Happy to get it from there.

If the dealer accepted the offer, you over-paid (lol).

I have now asked 4 people who got 5 - 11% discount on Custom Order e450. (assuming without tradein - otherwise "discount" doesn't mean much). But no one seems to want to tell me the salesperson or dealership...

I may be aging myself but I am pretty sure the sales guy is Leo Goetz.....

I consider sticker price on a NEW - new car to be fair. Anything under that is a blessing. As far as a special order car? Well, the car has no aging thus is open to a bit more leeway.

Nick:
If you haven’t committed to buying this car Don’t. These crooks are giving you a royal screwing. If the numbers you’ve listed are correct then they’re giving you a zero discount! You should expect to get at least a 5% discount off of list on any MB car.
Secondly, you should never pay a nickel over $750 for registration and or “dealer fees” which are just bull**** fees the dealer adds on. If they balk, just get up and walk out. I’ve been buying MB’s for 35+ years and from the same dealer simply because I set the tone regarding what I will and won’t pay for.
Remember, there are hundreds of other dealers from which to buy from, they’re far from the only game in town. Good luck.

Registration fees depend on location which wasn't provided by the OP.
In Florida the maximum new (not transfer) registration fee is less than $400.
A recent MB purchase had a dealer fee of $849. The $94 registration fee was to transfer an existing registration from a car that I privately sold.
In Florida the registration and plates are retained and do not go with a car being sold or traded.

Just out of curiosity, the difference between what the dealer pays for a new car (ordered or not) is 15% on a MB. Given the leeway between the dealer cost and the MSRP what would lead you to believe that the MSRP as a purchase price is fair, especially on an ordered car which is the least expensive option for a dealer to sell a car as they don’t have to “floor plan” the car, it is merely delivered to the dealer and out the door in a week or less. I am guessing you live in CA, of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion but I’d prefer to put an extra $5,000 in my pocket than the dealers.

Great. Am in NY - so happy to go to NJ to get. I will ask in this thread again. WHICH dealer and to WHOM should I speak? Many claim to get 5% or more off MSRP - then I hear crickets when I ask for a dealership.

I am a product concierge at a dealership and sent you a private message but never heard back. While I do not sell the car I work closely with 2 sales people. This is my job after retirement so I do not ask for any compensation from the two sales people...just glad to help them out.
If you are interested in chatting with them send me a private message and I will have one of the reach out to you.

Do I know if they can match 15%? Not sure, but we are generally a best price up front dealership.

You got a great deal. Sadly the damn sales tax eats up any discount. Frankly at the cost of a Mercedes, I agree with the person who said anything under MSRP is a good deal. Sure we all want a few thousand off, makes us feel good. But for an 80K car, 5K or 7K off sticker plus manufacturer rebates is gravy and won't change the quality of my life, since I could afford to pay MSRP if I wanted too. Again, sadly, all the fees and sales tax can bring it back up (or over) MSRP. Each state's "processing fee," (profit fee), is different; often the same regardless of dealership in that state. Often preprinted on sales contracts. The only way out of it is to negotiate the price down. But I am not going to quibble over $700 on an 80K car, only to be told over-and-over they won't delete it. Just my opinion.

I don't negotiate on pricing and I pay cash. I make a fair offer and if the dealer doesn't take it, I move on to the next dealer. I have 5 MB dealers within 20 miles to buy from.

Good attitude ua549. Frankly, regardless of the bottom out the door cost, if the buyer is happy so be it. For a Mercedes at these expensive costs, we shouldn’t need toquibble over a few thousand. Let that sales guy make a bit more profit, so what. I can assure you, their income is nowhere like ours.

In case it's a good data point for anyone:

Got a new (in stock on lot) 2026 E450 AT in Verde Silver for 11% off MSRP. This was back in February. They ended up bumping it up to about 12% off MSRP to counteract $900 for dealer-installed "Clear Guard" and "UV Tint" I balked at paying for when we got to the paperwork.

MSRP for this build was $87,470 ($86,120 + $1,350 Destination and Delivery), and selling price was $77,000. OTD a shade over $86,000.

Mercedes of Arlington VA. Ask for Frank. All Virginia dealers have standard $995 doc fee here. But I’m extremely pleased with the numbers, and that’s what counts. I got Sonoran Brown, love it. But it is not a popular color so that may be why I got good discounts. Verde Silver may be the same. Seems like 98% of all Mercedes are black, white, and grey/silver. I like to be different and I happen to love the Sonoran Brown. Get thumbs up at traffic lights a lot! Again, could I quibble to get a few more thousand off? Probably. But financially I don’t need to press it, let the sales guy make a bit more commission.
