12 Month Wait

Built an EQB350 on Netstar with a dealer yesterday, and dealer management is now estimating a 1 year wait. They said the EQB300 will likely arrive first, with an estimated wait of 8-10 months. They don't have pricing yet and cannot order the car yet, but they will take a $500 refundable deposit to go on a waiting list.

Is that because the car is now delayed or you are #158 on their "list"?

Don't know the answer. I suspect some of both. They did say they expect to be able to place actual orders sometime in the next couple of months. I will check with another dealer. Regarding pricing, I should have said "pricing is not yet on Netstar". No doubt someone at the dealer will have some familiarity with the pricing by now given what you attached + the ordering guide.

Orders can be placed assuming your dealer has an allocation. 2022's EQB 300's and 350's have been built. Some are at the VPC's. 23's are being allocated. Your wait time will depend on how many your dealer is being allocated and how many orders are ahead of yours.
MBUSA is allocating most electrics to the coasts.

Do the dealers know how much their allocation is for 23?

Yes. No doubt there are also upgrades that need to be done. Real bottleneck right now at the VPC's with new models needing software and hardware upgrades.

“Build”

I’ve recently “built” a 2023 EQB350W4 with my dealer. They will be able to submit against an allocation soon. I think they anticipate July when the final production takes place. It appears that most options, paint and wheels, gets assigned to the car which is then finalized as built.

If it is a July build then they would have to have the allocation slot right now.

Hi,
Sorry if this is a question that has been answered before, but I'm trying to get a handle on the ordering process. It's my understanding that if I walk into my MB dealership, and they have been allocated 2023 EQB's that have not been spoken for, that I can order an EQB 300 at the present time. Perhaps in a month or so the EQB 350 allocations would be made The ultimate price would depend on the dealer and if they are marking it up. Production would begin in early fall, with a possible mid to late fall delivery.

Is this accurate? Is there an expectation supply will meet demand, and it won't be the Hunger Games writ large in acquiring one? I have read horror stories of scarcity of all EV's and of course the markups. How scarce will the EQB's be? Does anyone know how many MB plans on producing for the US market in 2023? I'm just trying to arm myself with as much information before I go into a dealer. Obviously buyers are kind of in a bad spot right now in general with the shortages, stoppages, etc. Thanks for any insight. FWIW I'm in southern California.

@Shark

What do you think about cancelling the "order", getting your $500 back, putting it in the market to earn $50, then buying a GLB350 when they show up in the showroom. Or buying one a year or two later as a preowned?

A deposit was not part of the process so far. I’m a long time service and parts customer and I shook hands on the deal. Kinda a “word is my bond” kinda guy. We’ll wait patiently and enjoy the car when it comes. I’ve learned not to expect perfection and I’m pretty brand committed. If not the EQB then it’s the Model Y.
