As a long time Mercedes driver, it pains me to see their meager offering in this segment of the electric vehicle market. We'll likely be replacing our GLC 350e with a Mustang Mach E. Better range, better performance and pretty equal tech.

Probably because 2023 ordering is coming soon? Looks like the 2023 order guide is now available. That's so strange to have both years released so close to each other.

You are correct. The 300 and 350 are W4, and the 250 (2023 only) is not.

Thanks! i misread the 2023 order guide. Does look like eqb250 is FWD w summer tires. Might be a good starter EV a depending on price… if it starts in the 40s it would be a good alternative to the current crop of EVs

Hi, We've been searching for a three row EV (or PHEV) for a while, looking between the Chrysler Pacifica, Kia Sorento, Model Y and the Mercedes EQB. We like the EQB for having three rows, decent (though not overly impressive) range and a much better interior than the Model Y.

We went into a local dealership today and talked to the salesman and he gave us some info although it's hard to say if it's accurate or not. He said they were already taking some orders for EQBs but they still had a few slots open for June delivery. Confusingly, he said the orders were for a 2022 EQB250 although the order guide makes it sound like the 250 wouldn't be available till model year 2023.

We sat in a GLB250 assuming the EQB would feel pretty similar and it was pretty good. The third row was much better than the Tesla and definitely usable for kids.

Two questions we have are (1) Is the EQB going to have the same interior dimension as the GLB or will the battery in the floor cause a loss of headroom. (2) Are Mercedes getting marked up way over MSRP? We skipped on the Kia because dealers were asking up to $10,000 over MSRP which is just ridiculous.

Right now, the Merc is in the lead and we'll probably order within the next few weeks if their prices are reasonable.

@CaliforniaJag

on #1 not sure - I watched plenty of EQB videos on YouTube though, at least a few must cover the difference

#2 shop around. When I considered replacing the G550 with an EQS I found a dealer that would let me order or get an inbound unreserved (config locked or not) car at MSRP

good luck and thanks for the field update!

On 4/14/2022, Bloomberg Radio did a segment on EV. The MachE has had tremendous wait times. Here in the US, I couldn't even get a test drive - I called and got "Do you want to order one?"

Every manufacturer is having to plan inventory and orders based on chips.

As far as performance goes, a friend of mine from another german car mfg club test drove the MachE and offered less than satisfactory reviews on handling, suggesting that the car was built around existing Ford technology and combustion platforms. He went with a certain other manufacturer for his EV and bought an E300 to handle the days when his business travel required 300+ miles per day.

I don't know the answer for everyone, but for me, I'd really like to get the EQB. I think it is beautiful and I have faith that Mercedes is going to do things right, even if in small volume at first.

Best, WDV

Is there an updated order guide now that pricing is announced? It looks like the price of the exclusive trim is now $1,250 so I’m curious if anything else has changed.

Will the delivery on the 2022 model actually happen in January 2023 or very close to that? That would be quite funny.

Also, anyone know of any reputable dealerships in the Dallas area that are familiar with ordering EVs and don’t charge markups?
