USA EQB EPA Ratings

"EPA-estimated range is 243 miles for EQB 300 4MATIC, 227 miles for EQB 350 4MATIC." (source)

This is in the footnotes on the EQB website. I'm gonna assume the 16 mile difference is due to the very aero 18" (style R31 or 97R) wheels on the 300 and the larger, and far less aero, conventional alloy 19" (48R) wheels on the 350.

2023 EQB300
My lease comes due on my GLE350 in Oct 23 and i've been really enthusiastic about an EV,particularly the EQB. However, a range of 227 miles on the 350 is simply not practical. On our Rav4 Prime we get 50 miles on electricity only and then over 40 on hybrid mode. I am afraid we will still need an ICE vehicle for longer trips to out of the way areas that may not have adequate charging. On along I-80 west from NJ through PA where there are at the moment few charging stations. Just not there yet. Wish MB had backed things up with a plug-in, as BMW has done with the X5 45e. Very disheartened.

I would agree that 227 is totally impractical as an ONLY car for many people. You may wish to keep your eyes out for the upcoming EQE SUV which is a rough analog for the GLE and with far more range than the EQB, but unfortunately it won't be available until next year.

In contrast, the EQB fits our needs perfectly as 2nd car used for commuting and car pooling while we have a GL350 with ~700 miles range for road trips.

There really are chargers everywhere. I agree with the recommendation above to keep an ICE in the family. That said, for the number of occasions in which one might travel beyond the range on the east coast, there are so many chargers now at overnight and mid-route locations.

Download the ChargePoint app and when you get somewhere in your routine and non-routine travels, I think you will see what I am saying.

I have an EQB350 ordered. My longest drive with any regularity is from Monmouth County NJ to Somers Point and return. About 175 miles and 3 total hours of driving. I will rarely need to charge outside of the home, where I have already installed my own ChargePoint charger.

I'd also suggest the PlugShare app and ABRP - A Better Route Planner app (also on web).

At least here in the upper midwest, I see a lot more chargers on those maps than with the apps dedicated to a specific service. One can fill with gas anywhere with a credit card, but it looks like I'm gonna need multiple apps for each charging network around here. Fortunately, we don't expect to do any road trips with the EQB but I like to be prepared for eventualities. Meanwhile, our local electric company offers very inexpensive home charging that's restricted to evenings but that will work perfectly for us.

Same here - the EQB will replace my current car which is NOT the one we typically take on road trips. 240 miles of range with a level 2 charger at home will be perfect for my needs. My wife and I each drive crossover SUVs and I honestly forget there are two car families that have a sedan as one of the two cars. And I’ve never actually met a “one car family”.

You shouldn’t need to worry about multiple apps for charging if you get a Mercedes EV. They have all of those apps built into their charging system and make the entire process seemless.

My dealer actually had the configurator active and I speced out a 300 and 350. The 350 came to about 73K which honestly is a pretty significant premium over an ICE GLB and basically the same price as my GLE350. More ironic is the fact that a BMW X5 45e comes in about the same price. With 30 miles all electric, this is a more practical solution for someone like me wanting to remain in this level of vehicle as primary vehicle. As much as we love the wife's Rav4 Prime, it is not a car for long road trips. I honestly expected the EQB to come in somewhat lower so that is a tremendous let down. I don't want to go back to BMW after a pretty bad experience with 535 wagon and I like my MB dealer. So at this point, looks like I'm going back to ICE GLE or perhaps GLC.

If the range was in the low 300s, that premium might have been palatable. I mean, it's even less than a 28K Chevy bolt (which will be eligible for the EV credit, so even cheaper)

Buy out the GLE and wait for the EQE SUV, that will be a more suitable replacement for the GLE which is built on a pure EV platform rather than the EQB which is two size classes down as well as not as premium of a vehicle.

FWIW, Mercedes is hard at work on the next-gen EQB and the upcoming MMA platform will also underpin all of their other small EVs.

Thanks for posting!!

In terms of operating software and future battery replacement, it sounds like the EQB of today is designed and built to integrate in the future.
