Finally plugged in my EQE 350 4Matic. To my dismay it will only AC charge at a max of 32AMP, 7.4kW.
All literature says it is 40amp, 9.6KW.
Is this happening to everyone else? If this is the case, Mercedes advertising is obviously wrong (false) - and I can't believe they are limiting AC charging to 32Amp on such a huge battery.
The EQE charges in the US at 9.6 kW. If yours is charging at less power, it likely means your wall box or charger has been configured to only advertise 32A capacity, and thus the car limits its charge rate. Try configuring the charger to see if you can get the full 9.6 kW.

My wall charger is 80amp on 100 amp circuit. Both my etron and ix charge at 11kw/48amp.
Quick internet search shows that in North America Mercedes will charge at 9.6kw if you are on 3 phase power (which by the way, pretty much nobody is). Otherwise limited to 7.4kw.
Lots of wrong information about charging this thing. I wish Mercedes would be more transparent. That’s probably by design because it is so much slower than everyone else.

That's not correct. I charged my EQE (sedan) at 9.6 kW last night and my dad (SUV) the night before. Both of us have 240V single phase. The specs you're looking at are for 11kW 3-phase. But in the states, it's 9.6 kW single-phase 240V. Try another known-good >40A charger and see if you have the same experience. If so, there is something wrong with your onboard charger. I'm suspecting it's the wall box.

That screenshot is for the European-spec 11kW onboard charger. We have the US-spec 9.6 kW charger.

I have 4 chargers at my house - all juicebox 48A. All report the same 7.4kw. All my other electrics charge at full 11kw 48amp.
I’ll try a Tesla wall box tonight at my sisters house and see what’s up.
I noticed the eqe I purchased is listed by the dealer as “pre august production”. I wonder if there was a change after that date?
… or maybe there is something in MBUX that’s limiting it to 32amp? I’ll have another look tonight.
July/August is when production for the MY24s begin. Those will have some changes. All EQEs stateside come with the 9.6kW charger, there's no chance that was changed. As you mentioned, an 8A charging difference is substantial. It definitely has the right charger.
Charger/EVSE boxes are inherently very dumb boxes. They are programmed to emit a pulse-width-modulated signal to the AC charger on the car indicating what charge rate is available. That availability is set at installation time, and is generally not configurable unless it's reinitialized from the beginning. If the car is detecting any issues with that PWM signal, it will de-rate its charge to the next lower level, or refuse to charge entirely. Same with voltage sag and a number of other conditions. Definitely try another EVSE. It seems to be hard to find a 9.6kW EVSE outside of a home though - most public L2s are 6.4 kW, so it may be tricky to find one.
I purchased a cheap portable L2 EVSE in addition to my ChargePoint Flex Home, they can be handy and can serve as a separate reference in case something's odd with your original EVSE.
@bytemaster0 - spoke to Mercedes customer service. They confirmed that the max I would get on 1phase 32a is 7.6kw, and this is the max the vehicle would support.
@tuffcalc , that's pretty unusual that they would only put a 7.4kW charger - but I guess it's a difference in the Canadian market. Yes, I'm absolutely positive it's single-phase, I ran the wire myself. 3-conductor cable, L1, L2, N (and earth ground).
@tuffcalc Thanks for confirming because we have a Wallbox Pulsar Plus that is 40A on a 50A breaker and have only gotten 7.4kW max charging on both our EQE SUV and Sedan. I'm in Canada as well.

I'm going to bring in the vehicle for service and ask the dealer, again. I don't have a lot of faith in Merc customer service contact centre.
More annoying, I purchased the Pinnacle Package for $10k to get the Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus lights (the Matrix lights), and they are not activated ... so I have two issues to deal with.
Did you enable automatic high beams? When lights are on, push stalk forward so that you get a headlight symbol in white with an "A" on it. That should enable the feature. Lights need to be in "Auto" mode on the selector as well.

Yes I did - I only get the automatic high beam (e.g., no matrix lights, just high-beam or not).
Let's see what the dealer says. That's two major options (the other being 9.6kW charging) missing from this vehicle yet advertised as such. Nice

Thanks - if you decide to turn on matrix adaptive headlights (assuming you have the Digital Lights package) the programmer may be able to see the difference in your setup vs. Canadian cars and enable it for us.

FYI - Mercedes customer service now told me it should be running at 9.6kW ... just like the USA cars... so conflicting information. I'm wondering if it is software locked in Canada (as per @bytemaster0 build sheet, he also has "81B Single-phase AC charging function (6 kW-9.6 kW)" on his build sheet, like my Canadian X294.
I've asked Sam (the overseas coder who can enable matrix lights in Canada/USA) to see if it is a software issue. Hopefully he finds out.

I think dealer needs to install a new onboard charger, or at least swap one out to see if it changes things. I really can't imagine that in a 120/240V country that it can't charge at 9.6. Makes no sense, especially given your spec code.
