Official V295 Picture Thread
Hello all!
I've been hoping to see an "official picture thread" as have shown up in other forums, and as we don't have one, I thought I'd start one! Forum mods, I hope you don't mind that I called it "official", if that needs to change, please adjust accordingly. Just picked up my V295 today, absolutely love the cirrus silver color, and the car is just unbelievable. I placed the order back in January, and it arrived at the dealer yesterday. Build date was April 19th, so pretty quick to get from Bremerhaven to Baltimore and VPC, then to MB Louisville. Hope others will post here as well!

I gotta say, the more I look at this car, the more I love the design. At first, I was really underwhelmed and basically turned off at the shape when I saw it in press releases (especially EQS). However, radical designs are nothing new at MB - consider Bruno Sacco's W124 series, probably one of my favorite MB designs of all time along with W140, which was radically different from outgoing models (I have a '95 300D that I'm restoring, which is an absolutely phenomenal car). The W210 was also radically different, and while not my favorite, is still a classic. The V295 has to be seen in person. It's very handsome to behold, especially when you can take in its length. And if you study carefully, there's plenty of MB design language. Unfortunately, a gravel truck decided to drop a huge load of gravel all across the road yesterday and there was no chance to avoid it, so I have paint chips already on a 2-day-old car. Dash cam caught the truck and company, I called and sent in documentation. It may not be worth pursuing, there's just a couple chips in the paint, and I don't love the idea of adding an insurance claim and subsequent value loss just for that. Anyone else have experience with this? I just finished ceramic coating the car last night, now waiting for it to cure.

Okay, had to post a few more since I applied the ceramic coat - not quite cured, but looks great. Fortunately, the rock chips don't stick out! Also included a picture I'm calling "lineage" with the old W124 as well.

Looks clean and silver is just such an elegant and classy colour for a MB. Sorry to hear about that experience and the damage, glad it wasn't bad I don't see it from your images at least. How close do you have to get to see them?

@W205C43PFL , thank you! Depends on the angle, you probably need to be about 3-5 feet or closer to see it, unless the light is hitting from behind, but the coating has mitigated that considerably.

The car still had original wax on it, so I did a strip wash, then used 50% IPA prep spray, and then coated it. I didn't use a clay bar because to the touch from front to back the finish was flawless, I didn't perceive any contaminants - I figured it was good enough. We'll see!

I used AvalonKing AmorShield IX - I know that it's heavily peddled by YouTube and other influencers, perhaps there are better products out there, but for the cost and ease of application, it seemed like a good fit. I put it on my dad's X295 a few weeks ago and it seems to be holding up quite well so far, and it looks great.

I mean what you applied and how you applied it turned out pretty well so I wouldn't stress about taking it off and then reapplying with a different product but you can always use those recommendations by other forum members as future reference if you do need or want to apply something else.

I came across this thread earlier, they talked about a few products that I got curious and asked them questions as well, you could try in the future but honestly as long as you are happy with what you have and already applied I wouldn't stress about it, here is the thread anyways (just scroll down from the threads linked)

@rrb01 , gorgeous car! I find that the Cirrus Silver (AKA "High Tech Silver Metallic") is so much prettier than I'd thought it would be. I ordered it based on past experiences with MB silver colors, and this one is just incredible. Just a touch darker and bluer than say, Iridium Silver, it really shines. Congrats!
