It will be interesting to see how they handle pricing, as it's not an option but standard to the model. Given how EVs have been selling lately (slowly), will they be cautious or try to add $7k to the price of a 500? Also, glad to see they are re-thinking the brake system, given all the negative feedback they received this past year.

And it doesn't look like NACS adapter will be provided at this point.

Wonder if they go for a standard 2-3% price bump on this one? The certain improvements that I can see are improved brake pedal like in EQE SUV and heat pump. I'm not a huge fan of the DCUs, one more thing to break, and honestly I think the range improvement is likely just a couple of percent. Not worth an additional point of failure, or the 100msec reaction time in my opinion. Also adds a bit of weight. As for the brake pedal, I almost exclusively drive in "No Recuperation" mode, as it uses the discs least (ironically), and is very predictable in feel. So, I guess it wouldn't be much of a change for me in that case either. Another question is, do they go with the 89 kWh battery pack, or stick with the average 90.6 as with the 2023s? I guess we'll find out soon!

Price is still too expensive for the car. Even though I love the interior design, I would wait for solid state battery to come. Beside that, the recent fire in Florida makes me think twice about MB EVs at this time.

Agreed on the price, though if you look at it more closely, there are no competitors for EQE. The model S is more expensive but larger, and model 3 is cheaper but smaller. BMW i4 is smaller, but less expensive. EQE is definitely a premium car, I think it may be priced for the right market segment, but it's too expensive as an EV overall.

Solid state batteries - gonna be waiting a good while on those. They still have massive durability issues. They are wonderful on paper, and I've been excited for them for years, but we've all been waiting for years. I also think that the cost of solid state batteries will be astronomical compared to standard lithium ion, due to the atom-perfect production requirements to prevent cracking and lithium filaments. I'm not holding my breath for the next several years - it's a great aspirational concept though. Fire still has concerned me, as it rightfully should, but I strongly thing it's an isolated incident. EQE has been built since second half of 2022, and has same battery modules as EQS, which has been in production since 2020 or 2021. There must've been something special about that one car. MB issued a statement that was comforting about their immediate desire to perform a root cause analysis, and I'll be tracking it closely. For now, I don't have qualms recommending the car, the thermal management has been phenomenal.

The BMW i5 starting price is $67K. Almost $10K less than the EQE. And yes, you don't want to pay premium price for 300 mile range. You should expect at least 400 mile range.

It is too soon to make a judgment until more facts are known. We need the results of the Florida EQE investigation and now we also need to know what happened on the ship carrying Mercedes Benz EVs that is currently buring on the Atlantic. Based on whatever they may have seen while fighting the fire, the Dutch Coast Guard is reported as having speculated that the EVs were the source of the fire.

Agreed. Still just speculation on the fire anyway. A car carrier just caught fire a month ago with no EVs on board, so for now, all they can do is speculate until they can board the ship and get a better idea - if they're able to board it at all.

Are you sure? I wonder if the entry stating "All-new braking system for improved brake feel and revised regenerative braking software" means that the EQE sedan is catching up to the EQE SUV regenerative braking or is there really something new here to look forward to in 2024 for the rest of the EQ line (the SUV in particular)?

2024 EQS Sedan gets this new system too.

I think the addition of hyperscreen to the 500 series will be bad news for the MSRP of 2024 eqe500s.

Looks like still no option for AR HUD, seems to still only be for EQS.

I wonder if MB will keep the price the same as last year, like they did with X294. I can't remember if they ever kept the prices the same between years, it's certainly a new development.

I will have to look for the article, but I read yesterday that the price will be the same for the base vehicle.

EQE SUV - 350 4Matic
I did find this info on the KBB site:

New 2024 Mercedes-Benz Mercedes-EQ EQE Pricing

The 2024 Mercedes-Benz Mercedes-EQ EQE starts at $76,050.
At the other end of the price spectrum, the range-topping Mercedes-EQ EQE EQE 500 4MATIC starts at $87,050.

Here is a link to the info. It lets you select 2023 or 2024:

2024 Mercedes Benz EQE

EPA ranges for 2024:
  • EQE 350: 298 miles
  • EQE 350V4: 280 miles
  • EQE 500V4: 277 miles

Weird that even with the heat pump and improvements, the EQE350+ has a lower rated range then last year.

I think the range should be at least 375 miles in order to justify the price of the EQE. Otherwise, MB should sell it at $63K rather than $76K.

I don't think range really matters as much anymore with 800V charging. Dodge gets it IMHO. Their new EV is slow and handles like a brick in comparison but it looks really cool, not like a melted jelly bean.

I believe that the EPA testing methodology has changed between the ratings.

Here's the 2025 four door EV. I dunno what they call that color but looks like a tangerine to me. Absolutely delicious!
