Who knows at this point but we still want to build the car exactly the way we want it regardless of any delays. We will be taking delivery on a BMW iX this summer so we can wait for the EQS 580 SUV.

what is "typical" time from build date to delivery for alabama plant to NE? I also live in NE. Just curious. Not that anything is operating "typically" these days.

I'm thinking they are building demos and test cars now to work out any assembly line issues. Hopefully demos will start showing up at dealerships by early summer. Customer production should start late September/ early October and deliveries a month after that (give or take). All guesswork on my part but that's usually the way it goes when MB launches a new model out of their Alabama plant.
If we get our build by the end of the year, we'll be happy.

No, the SA doesn't know anymore than what is in the DOG. Look for a lot of changes to the DOG in the coming weeks. BTW, there are no allocations yet, our is just an order request. Early days but we all need the time to learn more about what is possible and available. At least MB is preparing the ordering system for real orders.

Wow. The two dealers in Atlanta I know won't take orders at MSRP, and one of them claims the order bank isn't open either.
A third dealer in ATL agreed to sell take an order at MSRP, but said she will call me back tomorrow to take the order.

Like the EQS sedan and upcoming EQE, Hyperscreen will be a top trim (580 for the S, 500 for the E) option. They would love it to be available on all models (like it was iniially available on the EQS450+ Sedan, and maybe ~50 US market cars have it), but with the chip shortage it's not feasable.

The other cosmetic thing I’ve noticed is missing is a Night Package of some kind. On the AMG package intro vehicle we’ve all seen in the journo videos, you can see blacked out side mirrors and what looks like chrome delete around the side windows (replaced with black trim). Possibly some other black trim too, I havent looked that closely. But I guess we’ll see if in coming weeks they add that, possibly with the 22 Black rims as an add on option

Excuse me for asking a dumb question, but how are people (in the U.S.) actually placing these orders? The mbusa.com web site still shows only the EQS sedan; not the SUV. Is there a place online that you're using to place these orders, or are you calling up (or visiting) a local Mercedes Benz dealer to make these orders?

Night package (Chrome delete) is available on EQS sedans but not in the USA. So wouldn't surprise me if MB plays ti the same way with the SUV, I for one was disappointed to see the chrome package in the EQS launch media, and then find that they never offered it in the US.

I'm thinking MB will eventually add this 22" wheel option to the DOG. Early days and changes will be coming.

Yea, it's a good looking wheel but if and when the 22" AMG wheel becomes available, I'm switching to it. There's a reason MB chose these specific wheels for their videos and promotional photos.
