Missing options?
Having looked through the marketing material and Swedish price list, I see no mention of
- Heated/cooled cup holders
- Soft close doors
- "Magic Vision Control" wipers
Are these conveniences too obvious to mention or have they been "bean-counted" away?

2022 Mercedes EQS 580
Based on this launch video the EQS SUV does come with soft close doors (starts at 7:00)

None of the above mentioned are listed in the dealer ordering guide. There are a number of notations about unavailable or limited availability for some options at launch.

overall I would take the EQS over a GLS any day.

I don’t need a 580, but have decided to get one because the 450 no longer offers the hyperscreen. Has anyone heard if the hyperscreen is going to be an option for the 450 again?

I’m also waiting for the auto door feature before I accept an eqs! Maybe 2023 at this point??

2022 Mercedes EQS 580
thanks for that! I’m willing to get the 580. Any word when the chips will be available for more options, like the auto opening door feature (you know, so i don’t have a footprint on the interior of my door
. I don’t want to wait forever, but if it might be early 2023, it would be worth it.

The "Comfort Doors" are in this category. When they 2022 EQS launched they had comfort doors as an option in the ordering guide with a production delay. Well the 2022 model year came and went, and there were no comfort doors.
Fast forward to the 2023 ordering guide and there is no mention of Comfort Doors on either the Sedan or SUV ordering guides.
Given that Mercedes does mention some other features coming later in the year, one can only assume that there will be no Comfort Doors.
So there is no way there will be Comfort Doors in early 2023. Most likely though, they won't have them before the mid-cycle refresh in 2026 if ever.

Something you should know about Mercedes is they sometimes bait customers with features in press cars that they have no commitment to produce at scale.

You are implying Mercedes never had any intention of supplying that particular feature.
If you have proof of this I would be happy to see it.

As for this feature, they led us to believe it was coming in 2022. The fact that they subsequently removed all mention of it is an indication of how far it would have been from being production ready when they were advertising it. While it may not have been deliberate, it was probably optimistic beyond reason. And this is not a court - I don't have to prove anything. This is my view on the matter.

Still waiting for US pricing but I would guess our EQS 580 SUV will MSRP for at least $140K and to think it will be the first vehicle we've purchased over the past 20 years that will not include soft-close doors is mystifying. That said, everyone in my family slams car doors anyway so I can live without them, it's just the optics are not good for MB. And self-closing doors looks more like a 'hey look what my car can do' feature but they would be novel.

Opposite in my family. We have both soft close and side blinds in our x166 GL (2014). So know when we sit in our other car without them, they close the doors lightly and expect them to close fully by themselves and then they remember they have to close the door hard. In Texas the side blinds are just always up on our GL rear windows. Those are 2 big misses for me. I will just tell myself that not having those options will save battery :-)
