Self Closing Doors

The owners manual suggests that there are self closing doors that are called convenience doors. I could not find anything referencing them in the EQS SUV Order Guide. What gives?
Thanks

This was a long touted feature by MB for the Sedan that essentially has been cancelled until further notice due to the chip shortage. Who knows when or if ever either EQS’ will receive this as an option.

Oh, that is very sad. I wonder if the hardware less the control module is installed. If not that would be a major change to try and make happen at a later date.

I’ve had my EQS for a week now and came from a Lucid with them and honestly do even notice or miss them. The doors are well balanced and close easily.

I agree, we had soft-close doors on our last 4 or 5 vehicles and we don't miss it at all. The doors on the EQS SUV close very easily.

I’m sad about the doors as I really wanted them for my 6 year old. She has to get out of the car by herself for school drop offs and struggles sometimes with my Tesla Model S doors. I held out from ordering the EQS sedan bc I was waiting for the auto close doors but then family changes necessitated a 3rd row SUV. If they ever do add them, I will probably just reorder.

It's a great feature for a number of circumstances you can find yourself in. It would be appreciated if Mercedes could offer this again in short order.

I've had soft close doors for many years. One get used to not slamming doors. When I go in for service the loaner cars do not have that feature and I'm continually having to slam doors multiple times to get them closed properly. The is nothing more agravating than attempting to go and getting a door ajar message, get out, and slam the right rear door to get it to close.

I really hope they come back. I saw that Polestar will be shipping their new SUV with soft close doors and it’d be a shame if Mercedes can’t start shipping with it again.

Soft close and self close doors are two different things. My S class has soft close doors. I still have to open and close the doors manually. The EQS sedan was supposed to have self close doors which automatically open and close the doors but have not been available due to chip shortages. They even had videos of the doors opening and closing by themselves and stopping before hitting a car next to you because of all the sensors they had. Looked like a cool option but who knows when they will be available.

I have played around with a couple of the EQS SUVs and they do have soft close doors. Very impressive that all you do is gently close the door and it latches first time every time. They are not self close however as noted. It think Mercedes should have put in all the hardware so that when available the modules could be added if someone wanted. As noted that is an option that is expected.

I do love getting into my Model X and being able to tap the break and the door closes. Hoping for some luck of an update on this feature when my build goes to production in January. Not holding my breath.
