450 4MATIC vs 580
Has anyone has been able to drive both? Am still waiting for nearby dealers to get enough inventory so that my wife can drive them back to back, but curious to hear others' impressions.

While I have not driven the 450 4Matic, at 335 hp I would bet it feels exactly like a 580 with normal daily driving. If you punch it, there should still be a lot of instant power. So if you can live without the Hyperscreen and 0 to 60 bragging rights, the 450 4Matic may be the sweet spot for many buyers. I did sit in a 450 at the dealership where we purchased our 580 and it feels exactly the same except for the screens of course.

I've driven both 450 and 580 sedans, and for the SUV only the 450. The 450 is more than enough for anyone's needs. While the 0-60 may be "slower," its still plenty quick, and has very quick passing times thanks to of course electric power being instant and not needing any gear changes. If you want a hyperscreen though, you will need to go for the 580.

Thanks, am going to drive the 450 and 580 tomorrow afternoon. But the no Hyperscreen could be a deal killer for us, thought for some reason you could option it on the 450 4matic. We'll see what the wife wants after we drive both!

In a normal world it was supposed to be an option on 450 models, however the chip shortage has constrained it to the 580. EQE's were supposed to have it available as an option and may not be available on any trim when they release.

To each his own but the Hyperscreen is beautiful and I wouldn’t want the car without it. But definitely not a requirement to operate and enjoy the EQS SUV.

I was lucky to get a 580 on the lot 2 weeks ago. I did test drive both variants. Coming from Tesla Model X, my personal take..
1. One of the reasons I love EV is the speed and the punch. 450 is fast enough when you get up to 60mph but it just lack the torque that push you out in front.
2. Hyperscreen is the signature of EQS. Without it just look weird.
If you ask me would I rather get a fully loaded 450 or premium trim 580 I would definitely take the 580. Hand down.
NOTE:
So far I am consistently getting 330 miles range with 90% charged. So range is a none issue for me.

Keep watch for a build close to or exactly like your build that shows up on a dealers lot. If you can nab one (and take delivery) before January 1, you'll qualify for the $7,500 tax credit.

I put in a custom order as well that will likely not arrive until March or April so when the dealer called to say this EQS 580 SUV was available (the person that ordered it didn't like the lease), my wife and I couldn't pass it up after calculating the $7500 savings plus the value of our trade would only depreciate. We knew it was the right decision and we just love it.

I test drove the single motor 480 and THE 580. Performance difference is significant .. including take off , handling and braking. If you are in this ultra luxury suv segment anyway .. then I don’t see why an extra 25k to get the best option is a barrier.

Do you know if the AMG Exterior and Interior is standard in the 580 SUV? I did not see the options to add those when configuring the 580 at the dealership.

I have a 450, really tempted to move to 580 given that dealers have softened in the price given the economy.
My dealer says with trade-in of my 450, the fully loaded 580 pinnacle trim (MSRP 145K and invoice 136K) is $28K out the door.
is this a good offer?
I’m also in 2 minds if I should wait for next version of 580 since soft close is not there and may be next version will also have heat pump.

Assuming you paid MSRP for your 450 and that price was less than $117K (145 - 28), and assuming that you are willing to pay MSRP for the 580, and assuming that your State only requires that you pay Sales Tax on the difference, then I would say it's an okay deal.

The 28K includes tax and all the fees.
