OK, sometimes what ends up being a problem is a ground fault circuit. Make sure you have a dedicated circuit breaker. 50amp for a 40 amp charger. 60 amp breaker for a 50 amp charger. You only needed to run a three wire cable. two hots and one neutral. Are you hard wiring into the box?

The issue was with Nema 14-50 Hibbell. Once replace it with the cheap from Home Depot. The charger works fine no more Red light on the side.
thanks all for your inputs.

Are you saying that you replaced the Hubbell plug with a cheap Home Depot one and it finally worked? That’s strange.

I’d bet the Hubbell wasn’t wired properly the first time. Someone wired one of the 120 legs to ground and the charger was receiving 120v instead of 240v. I’ve gone behind multiple electricians over the years correcting sloppy work. As in any profession there are good ones and there are bad ones. I would be interested to take a simple continuity reading on the Hubbell plug to see what is up.

It was wired correctly but was causing ground fault.

EQS 580
I have a Tesla wired charger (48 amp) at home for my wife's model S. Purchased the adapter shown below for my 2023 EQS 580 sedan. The charger works perfect for either car. All I do is attach the adapter when charging the EQS. I also take the little adapter when we travel in the EQS since many hotels use Tesla level 2 chargers for guests. With the adapter I can use these chargers.

I just bought the same adapter for my 580 sedan as well. Which version did you get? I went with the 80 amp. It is expensive but I like the small size.

No Mercedes yet
Because (to my knowledge) the EQS (sedan or SUV) won't charge at more than 11 kW from a level-2 (240V) charger, that will limit the charging current to about 46 Amps. With this in mind, the 80A TeslaTap is definitely overkill; the 60A version should be sufficient.
In fact, Lectron sells an even cheaper version (about 1/2 the price of the TeslaTap) that's only 48A. Again, that should be enough for the EQS.

Actually, the US model EQS SUV onboard AC to DC converter will accept up to 9.7 kW of AC which can be provided with a 50A (40A continuous) circuit breaker. If you have a 60A circuit breaker which can deliver 48A continuous at 11.5 kW, the EQS SUV will still only accept 9.7 kW of AC charging. At 9.7 kW, we can charge our EQS 580 SUV from 15% to 80% SOC in 6 to 8 hours so we normally plug in about every three days. Alos, the slower you recharge the battery, the better it is for the health and longevity of the battery. DC fast charging should only be used when traveling or you have no other options.

2023 Mercedes ESQ SUV 580 ● 2021 Volvo XC40 Recharge
I do the opposite. I have a ChargePoint Home Flex for charging my wife's Volvo XC40 and my Model S. I use the adapter that came with the Tesla and it works perfectly. (Trading my 2017 Model S for the EQS SUV 580 that I'm expecting for February delivery, then no more adaptor needed)

EQS 450+
I had a Lectron charging cable and noticed that as the EQS 450+ was charging, the charging rate reduced from 9.7 kW to 8.0 and then 7.4 . Never gave it a second thought because when I charge at a DC fast charger, the charge rate also reduces as it is charging. (I have since sent back the Lectron cable because on occasion it would show a short circuit and stop charging -- they are sending me a replacement.)

I have since purchased a ChargePoint Home Flex and noticed that the charge rate stayed constant at 9.7 kW throughout the entire charging cycle.. Is this normal?

All I know is that I've had a ChargePoint Home Flex for nearly 2 years and it's worked flawlessly.

I am fairly certain that for AC charging you should expect the rate to increase from zero to the peak that your configuration supports in the first minute or so of the charging session. Then the charging rate will stay constant near that peak until charging is complete. For DC charging the charging rate decreases as the SoC increases. Once the SoC reaches 80% the rate will be noticeably less. However, I don't recall ever seeing a DC charging rate as low as 9.6 kW. That leads me to believe it is not necessary to slow the AC charging rate below the peak rate possible in order to maintain battery friendly conditions.

I have two of these. Going to set up my second charger. How did you set up your second charger with the app only allowing one ?
