EQS Driver Assist is better than Tesla Autopilot
The EQS driver assist (steering and cruise control) is much better than the 2018 Model X with enhanced autopilot we used to own. It is extremely smooth and consistent with near perfect lane changing. Our Tesla used to wonder a bit at certain highway exists, had tons of phantom braking, and did not change lanes very smooth. The EQS system does take a minute to learn the controls, but it's easy once you get the hang of it.
I've had many miles with Porsche/Audi, Rivian, Polestar/Volvo, and Tesla's driver assist systems and the EQS is by far the best I've experienced. Combined with the extremely comfortable and smooth driving, this will be a great road trip car.

It's not just in the EQS. The MB system works better period. Teslas are complete hype, IMO. Autopilot has many issues that still haven't been sorted out such as phantom braking. And because of Musk's spat with the main company that supplies traffic sign recognition software to pretty much all auto manufacturers (forgot the name) they had to develop their own, which works poorly, although I think it works somewhat ok in the USA, but as with most things Tesla doesn't understand the markets outside of the USA and in Europe the traffic sign recognition pretty much doesn't work at all. Don't get me started on FSD. That's a complete joke pretty much and people who paid for it need their heads examined I think.

EQS 580 SUV
Have you guys had any issue with the steering wheel hand recognition while on the highway with driver assist? I'll be sitting there with a hand on the lower left part of the wheel, and I'll still get the chime telling me to put hands on the wheel. Usually I have to take my hand off the wheel and put it back on in order to stop the alert.
Any suggestions? Other than that, absolutely amazing car.

The BMW X7 we traded on the EQS 580 SUV could be fooled into thinking I was steering during Assisted Cruise Control by lightly placing my fingers on the back of the steering wheel (I was told it is heat sensitive). The EQS however can't be fooled in the same manner, I need to give the steering wheel a subtle nudge to avoid the warnings.

Correct, except my EQS is inconsistent. I'll have one highway trip where my hand stays on the wheel, and there's never a warning. Other times, it will go off every minute even though my hand never left the wheel.
