Have you tried the system out yet? Is the quality of the pictures and recordings good?

Yes, the larger the drive the more videos it will store. I bought this 512 GB drive from Amazon:

It is a bit disappointing that MB is charging $200 to unlock a feature that is already built into the car but looks like this is the way of the future for auto makers. As for needing to use a USB drive, I don't actually think that is a bad idea because it is simple to unplug the drive and plug it into your computer to view the videos.

SD cards are relatively inexpensive. I just bought a 5 pack of SanDisk 128GB mSD cards for less than $10 each and a 5 pack of 64GB.mSD cards for $5 each. For a dash cam one doesn't need much storage to record the time period around an "incident". When a card gets full it drops the oldest images first and keeps on recording.

$200 is pretty cheap for a dash cam. If they raised the price another 200 and added the thumb drive I don't think anyone would care. But generally complaining about them not having more free things included is something you could do all day if you compare them to less expensive brands. At the end of the day, if we as a group want them to improve their value proposition, then we all need to buy something else.

I was using this in my Tesla. It works really well in the EQS. USB-C to USB-C I plugged in the center console.
