Mercedes Me Services - activation in progress

Hello all,

I took delivery of an EQS 580 today and most of the services say activation in progress in the Mercedes me app. How long should it sit at this stage. Currently the app really doesn’t let me do anything or show me any information about the car.

thank you!

Most of mine cleared in a few days, but a couple took a few weeks.

I would take it back to dealer and have them activate everything properly and demand it. I walked out of the dealership with everything activated and working including the free charging account. I think knowledgeable dealers get it right, because it was many steps and took the dealer a good 30-60mins to get everything setup on our phones, etc.

Everything activated overnight. I was just being impatient.

One more question for this knowledgeable group. Everything is activated in the Mercedes me charge. I also entered the little ChargePoint code they gave me. Do I need to do anything to activate the free two years of electrify America or is that taken care of and will just work with plug and charge?

If “Plug and Charge” shows as an activated service in your Mercedes Me app, you’re good to go when you use an Electrify America DC fast charger. Simply plug-in and charging will begin in about a minute after some communications with the car.

as long as you added a CC to the charging, then you are good to go.

That is the part that kind of confuses me. I added the ChargePoint card that the dealer gave me. There is already a payment source setup, but it was there before I ever entered a credit card and the last 4 digits it shows are not any of my cards. Should I remove that and add my own card? I want to make sure we do not lose the two years of free Electrify America charging by changing the payment source.

Try this through your Mercedes Me app. Tap on the three bars (top left) > tap on your vehicle > Managed services > Charging > Mercedes me Charge > then register with ChargePoint from this screen. It will log you into the ChargePoint web portal where I think you provide a credit card (not sure about that part).

I did all that and it had a prepopulated credit card (not sure where they got that number).

For example, I also have a Taycan, and in the Porsche app, it specifically says that you have free 30-minute charging from x day to x day. I was not sure how to find this information in Mercedes Me Charge.

Have tried plug and charge at any Electrify America or ChargePoint DC Fast chargers to verify if you can do 30-minute free charging?

You don't need to add a credit card to the account. But I will say I'm very confused about this because in my first EA free charge I went 1 minute over 30 and I have no idea where the few cents I owed got charged...

My dealer setup everything for me without a credit card. Later I tried to add my credit card to my Chargepoint account in the Chargepoint app and I keep get an "invalid card" error when I try to add my card. Been meaning to call Chargepoint but have not had a chance.

Going to Dallas this weekend and will try to go over 30 mins again and see what happens.

So i took delivery of my EQS 580 and am having some real trouble with the Electify America thing. The RFID code (MBUSXXXX) is entered into my Chargepoint account, Me Connect shows all 6 charging services activated. Plug and Charge service activated both on App as well as MBUX, However, when I went to an Electrify America charging station yesterday, it looked like I was being per KWH as I was charging (the station recognized the car OK.) I stopped after 2 minutes, called the dealer. Not sure they really are that knowledgeable but we're going to meet on Monday to go through this. However, if anyone on the thread has an idea as to what might be going on, please let me. The Electrify America call center thought I needed an enrollment code from MB, but the one on the RFID isn't it.

Did you activate ChargePoint from the Mercedes Me app? If not, tap on the three bars (top left) > tap on your vehicle > Managed services > Charging > Mercedes me Charge > then register with ChargePoint from this screen. It will log you into the ChargePoint web portal where I think you enter the code on the small charging card your dealer gave you. At least that's what I recall.

I know I did not need to activate ChargePoint separately.

Thanks JoeMa. I did register for Chargepoint through the MB portal, and have entered the code they gave me on the small RFID tag. What I don't know is when you go to an Electrify America operated station, and when I start charging (i have to swipe a CC to start chargin), where does it reconcile my 2 year free 30 min package? Or does it net out on the backend later? I did get a CC charge for about $3 dollars in spite of connecting via the Plug and Charge service on MBUX.

yman - when you said it worked can I you confirm:
1) You were at a Electrify America operated station?
2) did you have to enter a CC to start charging?
3) did you go the full 30 mins, or did you stop sooner?
4) DId you get a text/email receipt that showed 0$ charged?

I ask above only because I tried doing all this yesterday at an EA station, Plug and Charge is enabled, but it was showing a running cost tally on the monitor - I stopped charging after about 3 minutes (about $3). I got a text receipt ($3) from EA, my CC shows a $50 hold on the card, but no $3 charge (yet.) Now wondering if I should gone through the full 30 minutes, and wait to see what the backend reconciliation looks like with MB Me.

1. Yes EA station
2. I did not. I have yet to enter my CC info to any Mercedes app.
3. It was about 20 minutes
4. I did and it showed a 0.00 charge.

I’m not sure if this helps and if you’re in the same situation but when I charge at a EA site it shows me the cost as I am charging. When I finish charging as long as it’s less than 30 minutes it credits me for the entire amount so I don’t owe anything. One time I disconnected right after it hit 30 minutes on the EA charger and I got charged 18 cents total. I now make it a habit to stop charging at 29 minutes.

I’ve used EA charging stations three times, and I never had to swipe a credit card. I just plugged in, it communicated with a car, I even saw Mercedes-Benz pop up on the screen, and the way it went and charged at no cost to me. All three times I charged was about 20 minutes, so I never exceeded 30 minutes.

^This. The user interface on the EA chargers' screens is a bit confusing. It shows a $$$ charge (pun intended) while it's charging, but (as long as your charging time was less than 30 minutes) shows a cost of $0.00 at the end.

Fyi it could be a problem with the EA charger. Yesterday I stopped at Waco to charge and pulled into the only open unit. It connected to the car and asked for a credit card swipe to start. Having done charging before with no issue and no cc swipe I called EA. While on the phone another charger opened up so I quickly moved and grabbed it. Plugged in and everything worked fine, and no charge. It does detect the vehicle and shows a screen that says Mercedes free plan and I had to hit continue.

A Ford Mach-E pulled into the charger I moved out of and I told him I don't think it is working, but he plugged in and was charging fine. I don't know if they have a free plan on Ford. Bottom line it is possible the charger is working but doesn't detect the mercedes free plan.

Also I went 1 min over and had a 34 cent charge. I don't have a credit card in my charge point account so under my account it is showing as -0.34.

There is a problem with EA communication. If it doesn't start charging soon after plugging in or if it asks for a credit card, start the charging from inside the MBUX. This is done by hitting the small charging icon and selecting the charger you're connected to. You will be asked if you want to start the charging. Obviously, you say yes, then charging begins. I'm still within the 2 years of free charging, but if you're outside of that, I'm sure you will need to use a CC. Benefit to this, so far, is that each time I've had to do this, the charge is listed as pending. I have a few over the 30 min time in October and I haven't been charged yet.

same experience for me.

I did go over the first time because I was a newbie and charged it to 95% and that took 35 min so I got my CC wacked. LOL never again, now it's 80% set in the charge plan and I set a timer on the phone to 29 min just to be on the safe side.
