Hello,
I am about to purchase a 2023 EQS450 SUV and a bit nerves of all these sudden breakings that I'm seeing on-line. Could someone tell me if I making a right decision and should I wait a few years for the technology to correct itself.

Thanks A bunch.

Only you can decide what is right for your situation. The decision is "want vs need", and want is a strong motivator.
- If you need to replace an ICE vehicle now then the EQS would be nice as long as you can deal with potential issues.
- If you cannot deal with issues then hold onto your current vehicle for 2 more years, but you will be giving up on all the nice features. Reliability will only get better with time.
- An alternative could be a 2-year lease of a lightly used vehicle, timed with the purchase of a 2025 model with an NACS connector.
I think I can deal with issues. 9 weeks into ownership of my EQE and it has spent 3 weeks in the shop (loaner provided), and a pending visit for when a part arrives. Hoping this is the end though.

People will rarely write posts when things are working properly so you have to put the problem threads in context. How many cars sold vs how many posts did you see for example? A saving factor will be that your car will be under warranty but I agree I would have regretted my purchase if I had to take it to a dealer right away. Fortunately my 580 is working fine so far. But you may want to consider the timing. The 2024 models should be announced soon and we know that they will have heatpump and front engine disconnect for a bit more efficiency. Front engine disconnect seems to be a fairly small gain but heatpump may be important if you live somewhere where winters are cold.

I would personally not worry about NACS connector that much. The adapter from NACS -> CCS is simple since underlying protocol is same and prototypes are already available actually from 3rd parties, so once Tesla opens up their network it should be simple to get one and start using NACS network.

So the decision would be to whether buy one with a discount likely or wait for 2024 models which may not have the said discount but have the heatpump. There is also a slight chance that price may drop given Tesla price drops but not sure if Mercedes would do that.

The A/C didn't work soon after I picked up my EQS SUV. It took 4 days for a part to arrive and be installed. Since then, no issues at all in the ensuing 4800 miles.

Greatly appreciate all the replies. I am about to lease a 2023 model which has been a dealer loner car at about $30K discount. I am thinking that having some mileage on it means that it has been driven and hopefully the issues have been reported and fixed by the dealer. I am getting out of 2022 Tesla Model X which has been in the shop 20 times in 13 months

That is great alternative to the options I suggested. The issues are typically associated messages that come up on the display. With no messages you should be good to go.

Perhaps you should check the threads for the ICE cars; you will find plenty w/problems. If you know your dealer, discuss the issues; MB is quite eager to get these cars on the road. I’ve had mine since May and so Carl it’s been a good experience.

Multifunction cameras behind the rear view mirror never worked when I got my car - kept getting active brake assist, traffic sign assist, and adaptive high beam assist error messages. They had to order the part and fix it at the dealer; took about a month to get the parts in and get it fixed. Other than that, it's been rock solid.

EQS 450+ , speedometer cluster lights

Hello Everyone,
Does anybody know how to dim out the speedometer cluster lights on EQS450+ ? There is always a knob or something next to the light switch button but I don't see it in this car. I know how to dim out the ambient light .
Thank you in advance.

My EQS 580 was 3 weeks into the shop to fix a faulty trunk opener. Apparently the latching mechanism for the trunk has magnets. If the magnets are not positioned right, no power liftgate operation for open/close occurs.

Very interesting. The tailgate failed on my EQE and no power commands worked and messages on the driver display showed as open. Found that pushing on the tailgate from the inside to force it open allowed the power controls to work again. However, it would not close fully. It was in the shop for a week with this and other issues. After getting home the tailgate would still not close. The SA said that it worked when he tested it. Took it in again but could not demonstrate the problem to the SA as it worked with about 6 tests. Back home it then worked/failed 50% of the time. I am guessing that it is temperature sensitive and just a little bit of expansion or contraction puts something out of alignment.

If the open/close cycle fails then a manual push on the tailgate does close it. The car will go back to the shop for this to be fixed if this becomes too annoying or at the next recall/service/problem.

My SA got my tailgate latch all replaced. Apparently this part comes from Germany and there may be a wait. My tailgate didn't open (power) about 1 out of 10 times. It was intermittent and quite annoying. After replacement, it seems flawless. 10/10 open or close.

Good day everyone, so I picked up my EQS450+ last month, it has been such a delight to drive. The only minor issues I have had so far:
A- Pressing the START button double times quickly confuses the computer, I get a red text message in the speedometer panel about something about battery and towing .... or key is not recognized ...
B- I get into the car, the center monitor went blue and blank, no Navi, no Charing icon, ... I had to get out of the car, lock it and then unlock it to reset everything.
Any comments?

If you apply the brake BEFORE pressing the Start button, the green READY indicator will appear obviating the need to press the Start button a second time.

Yesterday, I stumbled across the screen to adjust the brightness of the display. If I find it again I will post the instructions to get to it. If I recall correctly, it was under the "Display" category of one of the vehicle setting screens.

Edit 15-Oct-2023: Path to brightness control on cockpit screen - Settings -> System -> Displays -> Display Brightness. You can adjust the brightness separately on the cockpit and central screens.

On another note, does EQS always starts on C (comfort) ? Is there a way to start with "S" or "I" ?

Unfortunately not, there is an option make it ask you to switch to last setting but it doesn't automatically remember it. IMO it is stupid, the driver profile should for sure include the drive setting and also seat ventilation etc. I always drive with seat ventilation on and it is what I want so give me the option.

Audi was doing it a lot better, pretty much every setting was tied to the driver profile but you also had the option of saying don't remember seat ventilation etc.
