EQS 450 4Matic SUV
Noticeable ride height difference in more recent EQS SUVs
I was at my selling dealer today getting a minor repair done on my EQS 450 4Matic SUV with VIN number ending in 005xxx. While waiting for my car I checked out other EQS SUVs in the showroom and on the lot. The one EQS 450 4Matic SUV and three EQS 580 SUVs available with VINs ranging from 016xxx to 024xxx were all lower than my SUV by about 15mm to 20mm. I did not take an actual measurement, but the ride heights were obviously lower. There was one EQS 580 SUV with a low VIN number, 0019xx, and one EQS 450 4Matic SUV with a VIN of 006xxx. Both of these SUVs were the same higher height as my vehicle.
The Sales and Service employees to whom I pointed out the difference acknowledged the discrepancy in height between the lower and higher VIN numbers, but assured me there was no option to change the ride height (other than the off-road raised level) in my car. I am hoping that someone here on the forum with access to the shop manuals can shed some light on this matter. I have been contemplating replacing the ride height sensor links with longer links, but I am still waiting for the machine shop to fabricate a tool to remove the factory links without damaging the ball studs on the sensor arm or suspension bracket.
The photo below is of the EQS 450 4Matic SUV with VIN ending in 017xxx.

I cannot help with any info on why the newer cars might be at a lower ride height but our 2023 EQS 450 4Matic SUV serial # 0082xx built Nov 22 has a ride height of 33" front, 33 1/4" left rear and 33 1/8" right rear with a quick measure. I tried to measure the height at the center of the wheel from the floor to the bottom of the black fender trim. Our garage floor is slightly sloped front to rear so that may affect the measurements a little bit. Interested to see how you make out with the ride height links. Interesting to see if you actually get a technical answer to this.

2023 EQE 500 SUV electric and 2024 Jaguar F-PACE SVR 5.0L
To each his own... I wanna lift mine, put mudders and a lightbar on and rally race my EQE 500 SUV. I bet the 4MATIC system and rear wheel steering would do quite well actually. Until I poke a hole in the battery pack and set the whole forest on fire anyways.

I hope to get back to the dealership with a scale to measure some of the more recent EQS SUVs on the lot. I expect them to be in the same exact parking spot that they have been for my last two visits.

Any chance the new ones you looked at had been sitting for a while? If they all had air suspension and hadn’t been started for some time, perhaps the suspension had ‘settled’ due to the air compressor not being active? I’m just totally guessing here, as I know almost nothing about the EQE; I’ve just had quite a few cars with air suspension is all.

I asked a sales rep to "start" the SUV on the show room floor, but she could not find the key. The fact that I was not a potential buyer probably made the key more difficult to locate.

Another forum member recently reported a similar observation in this EQS Sedan forum thread:

It's most likely because they've been sitting and have not been started. This is not unique to MB. Most new cars with air suspensions that sit for long periods of time will look like that. Starting it up will bring them back to normal height. I've seen this on BMWs, Mercedes and more for 10+ years now.

I just got into my 23 580 sedan after 6 weeks of sitting in the garage in storage and the first thing that came up after pressing the start button was a message stating please wait while the car rises. It took about 1 minute before the message went away. I never even bothered to look at the height of the car as I got in so I didn’t realize it had settled down in the interim.
