Makes no sense to make the EQS here if it won't qualify for tax rebates. But GLC EV will qualify and will be higher volume. Since both cars are based on new architecture, I think it won't be too hard for them to retrofit the lines to make the GLC EV. Seems like the right move.

It kind of makes sense if they plan to build GLC's here since those will sell more and at GLC's price point rebate becomes more important. It is a much bigger percentage of the price after all.

The move makes good business sense, after all, they are in the business of making a profit and the EQS SUV is just not selling that well. We've owned ours for 15 months and I haven't seen a single EQS SUV on the road in our area to date. The EQC SUV at a much more affordable price point will help improve the companies bottom line in the US market. It should really make no difference to future EQS SUV buyers since they no longer qualify for the federal tax credit.
MB is navigating the new world of EV manufacturing and there will be some twists and turns along the way. Nothing to worry about. Just business.

In the San Francisco Bay area, I've seen several other EQS SUVs (mostly 580s, but also some 450s) in the 13 months since I've owned mine. But, once again, the San Francisco Bay area is not like the rest of the US :-)

Don't get me wrong, we love our EQS 580 SUV and in a way I'm happy to have the roads to myself (for now) driving an EQS SUV. The new Ford Bronco must be selling like hotcakes because I see them everywhere. We also own a RAM Limited and I see RAM pickups everywhere. I'm enjoying the exclusivity of our EQS SUV (for now) and we still get lots of compliments and a few thumbs up from passers by.
