You got lucky! The closest EA station to me is 30 minutes away and I've been waiting a YEAR for them to fix it. I wouldn't even waste my time trying to go to an EA station around here without checking PlugShare first:

For the range in MN winter, The Dealer charge up to 80% at the delivery 12 days ago with 63 miles on the meter ( I took a test drive before that). Last night, 401 miles on the meter. I did not monitor by kW usage, but by percentage I estimated about 340 miles utilizing 120% to 130% with an average temps of 35 degrees. Therefore, just shy of 290 miles/100% charge in the mild winter. In the middle of MN winter, my experiences with the EQS loaners were about 260 or 270 when temps dropped to 20 below per 100% charged. If I keep it charged to 80%, I will monitor the range in the next few days and will see what the actual range with the temps average 40s-50s. I will make a log book on my Excel to keep track this.

Was watching an Out of Spec video where they're towing with EV trucks and Silverado's display is just SO MUCH better than all the unnecessarily convoluted crapolla most EVs show you. Power consumption and genreation number is right there in front of your face. No dividing 1000 by the MB number to figure out mipkwh or any nonsense like that. It's just so refreshing when someone with a brain (accidentally) gets put in charge of the show. *sigh*

Going up and down in kW!

Thanks Crito, not bad for me, the EA here is about 12 miles from my work and 25 miles from my house; I was frustrated and wanted to find out if the Dealer's setup OK for EAs, so I will be more confident to make a long distance trips yet. I will try to charge at this EA location 1 or 2 more time to get this procedure down to the science of MB setups. Level 2 charges are available all around my work even some free charges; level 2 charges are average about 6.6 kW/hr, therefore, 2 or 3 hours plugins here and there is good enough for my daily commuting. I will try some level 2 Chargepoints around my work/home to see how they are working within MB 30 minutes FREE!!! Everything are so new to me... In the last 12 days, I felt like I was a Johny#5 in the movie... inputs, inputs, more inputs... LOL

Update 4/4/24, back to the same EA charging station today, 2nd time: Use MBUX GPS to direct back to the same EA (of course, I know where to go). When arrived there, MBUX notified to plug the charger to the SUV, followed that instruction and pluged it in without selecting station #, and handshaked and automatically charging. WOW, It recognized my SUV automatically. Hopefully, this is the way to do it from now on and it's so simplified charging process. Happy camper. 518 miles on the meter so far.

I have 2 EA chargers within 30 minutes of me. Typically I just enter one into navigation and pull up to an unused charger and plug in. It used to recognize my car 98% of the time. Lately I’ve had to get out the Mercedes me app and select the charger for the handshake to occur.

How to charge first time at EA

But, actually, this is the correct MBUX setups: 1. Navigate by GPS to selected EA Stations, 2. approaching and back it up an available charge station #, 3. recognize station #, 4. MBUX screen show all station #s and the infos of EA, 5. swipe to select station # you are about to charge and select it, 6. get out and plug the cable to SUV, 7. wait for connecting and bingo... charging. While it's getting charged, you monitor the time and percentage is charging 'cause only first 30 minutes are FREE. When I got there, my SUV was showing 31% and set up to 80%, 26 minutes later 80% filled and MBUX automatically stop the charge. I got out and unplugged and close the lid. I looked at the station report that $0.00 and 26 minutes fast. I am very happy camper now knowingly that the dealer setup OK. Thanks all members helping and so far 400 miles with slow level 1 at home and level 2 at the Shopping Mall. I will install MB box level 2 on the wall soon when the weather warmer. ? Inside or outside the garage? Pro and con either way? TIA
Thank you for the info bc I had same
problem last week with our new EQS charging at ES for first time and had to pay!
would you mind copying and pasting links to the YouTube clips you watched pls? Thanks!

5-month Updating

Updating: Approaching 5 months and 6500 miles... So far NO gliches on both HW or SW, 1 SW update per TSB. So joyful of EV experiences, test-run round trips from MN to Chicago with 2 30-minute EA charges each way within 24 hours and totally about 850-900 miles with total 2 hours of charging. Starting out with 100% full at 3am, 1st charging stop at Tomah, WI, 25%-85% in 30 minutes, 2nd charging stop at Rockford, IL, 35%-88% in 30 minutes. Same on return, got home about 1am and 15% remaining. Average highway speed 70-75 mph. There are more EA stations nearby on the way to home, just in case running so empty.
Very easy going and doable road trips with EA chargings. We are so confident to take our EQS on next 1200-mile one way road trip in the near future.
For the cost to run 6500 miles on the EQS... so far $0.02 and 2 overnight level-1 chargings at home to top up to 100%. Two pennies for just ran a few seconds over 30 minutes... So funny. More updates on the next trip soon.

8 months and 10K miles update

8 months and 10,462 miles update: So far still so good EQS-580...knock on wood!!! Charging cost mostly at EAs and mostly $0.00.
As this update: 10,400 miles using around 4070 kWh charging mostly at EA stations, therefore, avg. 2.56 miles per kWh...
$ saving vs gas (compares against my previous GLS450): avg 18 miles/gal, total gas is 580 gallons with an avg $3.75/gal = $2,200 estmated.
Summary, gas saving is $270/month driving EQS580 vs GLS450, of course, for the 1st 2 years.
That's all I have for this update.

It's a very good deal to resist... non-disclosure please. It's very base EQS580; good enough for me. Will get some pics later.
I am still learning about how to get DC-Fast charging from Electrify America yet; Perhaps tomorrow. It's come with a level-1 & 2 home charging kits. I will try level-1 tonight to see how paintful this litlle guy can do.
Any tips... sugestions are welcomes.

Smile No markup please

MB has been always expensive and YUGO was cheap with no markup... Guess where in the world is YUGO now... catch it fast b4 it's gone.
This is the forum for people loving and driving MBs... Driving MBs put a dent in my pocket, but smile on my face is... priceless.
By the way, Ford is losing B...Billions every 1/4 to sell the EV trucks for an average $30K loss each. Go figure...
It's only my 2-penny thought...
Please don't worry...be happy.

Because even with those big batteries, the average US driver drives only 20-40 miles a day, which can be recovered on an overnight charge on a slow charger.

Level 1 charger is handily for an overnight top-up to 100% right b4 my road trips. Yes, it's so rediculously & painfully slow at 1.3 kWh charging rate, but daily requirements of 20-30 miles for commuting and errants... may be OK with the option DC charging once every 2 weeks filling it up. My daily commuting about 40 mile and every other day to run some errants for additional 20-30 miles... I did a level-1 trial-run for 2 weeks every night after a full 100% DC, at the end of the trial, still some 30s % remaining, beside, I have another car driving 1 or 2 days a week. With that, I might not need level-2 installed at my house just yet, even after 2-year MB 30-minute complement charge expired. Therefore, maybe level-1 enough for us till the end of this lease term.
A brand new EA charge station recently opened just within 1 mile radius from my work... and that's just icing on the cake of joy. We intend to drive and enjoy this EQS more and more... sorry my S550 is sitting in the garage. Yes I know... I need to drive S550 more.
By the way, it's now 11K miles on the odometer as of 10/31/2024 and experiencing 1st SNOW of the season.

Without a warning: I got an dead-dread "MALFUNCTION" red alert on my EQS and it had to be on the flatbed to the dealer today... some pics later. 12k miles.
Service advisor will update tomorrow. Just a head up. Luckily, they have a loaner available. Cross my fingers and hope it's not HV battery.
See you all tomorrow.

Update 11/29/24: All histories of the SUV were dowloaded and sent to Germany engineers... continue waiting. At the mean time, I have a 2025 GLC350e as a loaner. This is good opportunity experiencing to live with a PHEV for this weekend. I will try level 1 and level 2 charging and see how far I can go just only EV-mode.

I started this thread : https://mbworld.org/forums/eqs-suv/9...s-screens.html
for this Malfunction.
Update: New battery is on its way to the dealer, ETA around 2 weeks... 1 week went by... still waiting. About 10 months old & 12.5k miles and new battery. I am having fun experiencing PHEV. Normally, it's starting on EL mode with some charge in the battery and changing to Hybrid mode when battery 0%. I can get about 45-50 EL miles in 100% full charge. Not bad at all. So far, PHEV used 5 gallons of gas in 1 week normal commutings & errants.

I use level 1 all the time. It’s perfectly fine for city driving and you can charge virtually anywhere. I would not buy an EV without L1.

They bother because it is installed in every garage and allows a charge rate of 1.4 kW in the US. That gives you around 1% or slightly more per hour of charging, or between 3 and 5 miles added range per hour depending on the vehicle and your driving habits. Assuming 10 hours of charging a day (i.e., plug in when getting home for the day), that gives you about 30 - 50 miles of range per day, which is also similar to the average distance most driver drive in a day, which is typically commuting and shopping. Most drivers could charge with the existing wiring and an occasional DCFC when going on holiday trips.

I just checked my mileage and I am averaging 38 miles per day over the last year. That includes a couple of fairly long trips on vacation, so the median distance is lower, meaning that 120V charging would cover me most of the time. (I am not doing that now as I am still in the free charging period.) I had originally planned to install a 50A circuit, but it does not seem to be needed for my driving situation.

While waiting for my EQS servicing... Experiencing a loaner 2025 GLC350e PHEV with Level1 overnight charging at home getting average 50%-60% and pluging Level2 at work for couple hours here and there to 80%-100%... average about 40-50 miles per 100% and that's enough for my daily requirement commutes without using gas. This is very good timing to try PHEV in Minnesota Winter; EL mode when temperature is around above 20s degrees, it's been very cold for for the last 2 days (single digit or below 0 degrees), the system has kept the gas engine constantly on most of the trips; I tried to set EL mode unsucessfully. Just my own observation and Therefore concluding that PHEVs are not ideal for MN winter for the gas savings purposes.
It has been 2 weeks without my EQS... and having fun with PHEV... just can't wait to get my EQS back and see what difference with the new battery.

Update: Got my EQS back with the new battery pack installed a week ago; It's been 4 weeks out of service. Driving around and good so far. Everything setups and personalized memories were still there. Amazing how they kept everythings with the new battery replaced. So far so good. If any hicup later, I will update. With no reasons or explainings what the exact cause the "Malfunction". I think MBUSA just want to keep this quiet to the public. Let's see how long the new battery last.
Moreover, RANGE: It's so cold in MN now and my range is reducing to about 200-250 per full charge (100%). It's the 1st winter experience with EVs (EQS580). I will track this range and get the average MN winter range.

Indeed, here in Toronto, range is 40-50% less than in summer.

I had expected this, but I was repeatedly told by mostly Tesla fan boys that I’m “way off” and that’s not the case. Range takes a Major hit in winter.

What is surprising is that the range loss is just as bad in stop and go traffic as it is when cruising at ~80 mph. I had assumed the range loss would be greater on the highway. I think it’s actually worse in city driving.
