Buying EQS SUV out of state

I managed to locate a dealer in CA with an allocation for the 580 SUV I wanted and should be getting that delivered to the dealer in the next month. I’ll then have it shipped to me (I’m in WA). I’ll be doing the paperwork remotely.

Since I won’t be going into the dealership to take delivery, what are the things I need to keep in mind or ask the dealer either when I close the deal with the dealer or when the car rolls off the carrier here? I’m assuming my phone app need to be paired with the car - when does that happen? Anything else?

I just bought out of state. But, I drove to the dealership with a trade-in to complete the deal. We did all the negotiating over the phone. When we had finalized the deal, they overnighted documents to sign (my wife didn’t go to the dealership…so her signatures were notarized here). They collected my state sales tax and send to my state. I would recommend you get on the phone with the techie at the dealership and have them walk you through setting up the mb app, ChargePoint/electrify America - so you can get your two years of free charging. Once mb app is setup…you should be able to track the car in transit. The siriusXM trial was already setup. I would have them do a walk-around video of the car prior to loading and send it to you. Have them charge car to 80%. Might you have a friend near the dealership that could possibly go look at the car? Good luck.

thanks much!! One more question - what should I expect to receive when I take delivery of the car. I assume there will be 2 key fobs, anything else? Tire repair kit/jack? Anything else?

I received - 2 keys, carpeted floor mats, rubber floor mats (an option), charging kit and cable, tire repair kit, copy of all the signed documents, RFID card - which can be used at ChargePoint public charging stations, owners manual, plus finance guy talked my ears off about extended warranty options.

Make sure someone puts it in transport mode before it gets loaded. No one will want to bother to do this 2 minutes task and may not even know the option exists, but it will prevent the long wheel base car from bottoming out getting on/off the truck. I know this from experience.

edit: oh, just realized this is for an SUV so probably does not matter. Anyone considering a sedan needs to do this, though.

Maybe turn the interior protection off - will that help minimize/eliminate any potential alarms going off?

Thanks much for your tips!

One more question - when should the VIN be available? My build date was yesterday, is the VIN available after a week or two (when production is complete) or is it available when production starts? Should I expect the dealer to reach out with the VIN or do I have to ask? Should I expect the dealer to have notified me to confirm the build did actually start, when build is done, vehicle is going to the VPC, vehicle is going from VPC to dealer, etc? Or is that too much to expect?
