It appears Mercedes will miss their previously announced promise to offer current EV owners an adapter to access Tesla Superchargers in 2024.

"Mercedes-Benz will be the first German OEM to implement NACS ports into its new electric vehicles starting in 2025. As part of a phased transition, Mercedes-Benz will initially offer an adapter that enables the company’s existing CCS BEVs to charge seamlessly on the NACS network from 2024 onwards."

A note to Mercedes (if your reading this):

I'm watching carefully and my next purchase of an EV will be driven by access to public charging, including the Tesla Supercharger network. If Mercedes continues to drag its feet, my next EV will not be a Mercedes. I'm certain I'm not the only owner disappointed in the slow adoption of an adapter for NACS.

I doubt it is Mercedes dragging its feet. More likely the new Supercharger team at Tesla is hopelessly backlogged. You cannot fire an entire division and expect anyone to pick up the work quickly no matter what Musk says.

You may be right but Mercedes hasn't provided any such announcement, and in my view, owes their existing EV customers an update explaining why they will miss their promised 2024 delivery of an adapter and access to the Tesla Superchargers.

Mercedes reputation is at stake, not Tesla's. If Tesla is the hold up, we deserve to know and Mercedes needs to tell us when to expect delivery of an adapter and access to the Tesla Superchargers.

I wrote Mercedes customer service a month ago and never received a reply. No way to run their emerging EV business.

I doubt even Tesla knows when they can get Mercedes onto their network. As for an announcement, what could Mercedes say that would not potentially annoy Musk and cause even further problems with the planned integration? The delay is obviously due entirely to Musk's actions, no one else. Not worth the risk of yet more delays while Musk engages in a pissing contest.

I was surprised that after the RIF at Tesla new Magic Dock stations continue to be added to the Supercharger network at a good pace. For EV drivers in the Northeast, many 300 to 400 mile road trips can easily be made using Tesla chargers exclusively. I will get a chance to use one of the new V4 chargers with longer cables in CT on an upcoming trip to Boston.

On December 26, 2024, Dayna A. at Mercedes-Benz USA Customer Assistance Center shared the following:

“We are working on the integration into Mercedes me charge now and expect it to be available to customers through MB navigation (head unit and app) in 2025.

You will need to have a special NACS to CCS-1 adapter in order to utilize the stations since it is not natively compatible with the charging inlet on our vehicles. We are in the process of procuring and certifying the adapter so it can be available to customers later this year. It can be purchased through the MB dealer network once available. MBUSA will send email communication to all EQ drivers when the adapter is available to purchase and when the Tesla network is fully integrated.

Please Note: Tesla Supercharger network has not been integrated into Mercedes me Charge, and Tesla Superchargers will not be included in our Navigation with Electric Intelligence. As a result, Mercedes-Benz vehicles will not be able to use Tesla’s network when planning charging stops and customers will have to pay for their charging session through the Tesla app at this time.

Mercedes-Benz is also working on an adapter solution, which will likely be available to customers from Mercedes in early 2025.”

I have a feeling that in the end, after waiting forever for the official adapter, it'll be so bad we'll all want to use a Lectron anyways. Here's the latest twist to this never-ending saga:

Even Ford provided a free adapter to their customers. Mercedes is dropping the ball IMO.

We’re getting a free adapter from Genesis with our other EV - Genesis GV70EV…I’m guessing it should work fine with our EQS…we’ll see

Just spoke with my MB Dealership, and they confirmed the issue is with Tesla as MB is ready to proceed with the integration as soon as Tesla says ‘go.’ I wonder why the Tesla superchargers with Magic Dock don’t show up in navigation, however. Am I correct that MB vehicles can use Tesla superchargers with Magic Docks?

I have no idea what the problem is but I'm sure it's not my fault.

Yes, I've charged my 2023 EQS 580 SUV at two of these - in Moab, UT and Forks, WA. Currently you need to use the Tesla App to do this (and your phone needs to have data connectivity to the Internet - which was a bit of a problem in Forks, WA).

It would be nice if the Tesla superchargers with Magic Docks showed up in MB's route planning - but they probably won't do this as long as you need another app ("Tesla") in order to the do the actual charging.

Many superchargers should have WiFi, which might help?

Mercedes announces access to Tesla Superchargers in February. It's disappointing MB isn't offering a free adapter to owners that request one but at least the pricing is fair at $185. Hopefully the dealerships have them to sell very soon.

I just happened to see from MBUSA that Feb 4, 2025 is the official date to release the update and MB adapter. Just can't wait.

Apparently we will have to get an updated phone app in order to be able to choose "Charging Status & Settings" to indicate that we have an approved adapter. I am surprised there is no mention of this requirement in the announcement.

Were you able to download the new app? Perhaps it will not be available until February 4th?

No, version 3.51.0 seems to be the only one available.

They definitely haven't released an updated app yet, likely it will coincide with the launch of NACS support on the Tesla Charging network on February 4th. Hopefully sooner so those of us with an adapter can see the Superchargers on the app and in our EV's.

I have successfully charged at Tesla Superchargers with the Lectron adapter. I added a 2nd ‘approved’ vehicle to the Tesla app, and when I charge, the app doesn’t really ask which car I’m charging. I do not use ‘plug and charge’ but initiate the charge through the app. I also had my vehicle serviced earlier this week, and I asked about the ‘Tesla’ update, the technician did check, and said I was ‘good to go.’ And this was after I had already successfully charged at Tesla Superchargers.

Yes, but you may get flamed by some forum members who insist that using anything other than the MB adapter made by Lectron will void the warranty.

Thanks - but is there a safety hazard to use non OEM adaptor for Mercedes ?
